Course overview

This programme is designed to produce graduates in architecture who are creative and innovative, and possess high moral and ethical values. Graduates are educated so that they are able to develop knowledge in built environment and produce architecture that is relevant to the current needs while maintaining national architectural heritage and identity, in line with the mission of UKM to internationalise knowledge rooted in the national culture. Important elements of architecture such as community and sustainability are also emphasised in this programme. This Master of Architecture programme is also in line with the requirements of the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) to meet national human resource needs in related industries in the public and private sectors, in accordance with current market demand and long-term local and global prospects.

  • This program provides the impetus for architecture direction in UKM, which is 'National Architectural Identity', the only university in Malaysia that upholds the development of architecture with national identity with an emphasis on key elements such as community, sustainability, architectural heritage and also moral and ethics.

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor of Science of Architecture degree with Honours and obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.75 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university by the UKM Senate and Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)


AND;

Working experience in an Architectural Firm or similar field for a minimum of six (6) months after obtaining the degree;


OR;

A Bachelor of Science of Architecture degree with Honours and obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 to 2.74 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university by the UKM Senate and Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)

AND;

Working experience in an Architectural Firm or similar field for a minimum of twelve (12) months after obtaining the degree;


OR;

A Bachelor of Science of Architecture degree with Honours and obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 to 2.49 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or its equivalent from any other recognized university by the UKM Senate and Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)

AND;

Working experience in an Architectural Firm or similar field for a minimum of thirty-six (36) months after obtaining the degree;

AND;

Pass the portfolio interview

Fulfil the minimum score or band of 5.5 (IELTS) ) or equivalent;

OR;

Attend and pass the Intensive English Program (IEP).
