Course overview

Master of Science (MSc) are targeted for students who are interested in research work and wish to continue their career as researchers or academicians.

Entry requirements

  • CGPA 2.75 and above – A Bachelor’s degree with Honors from UKM / equivalent;
  • CGPA 2.50 – 2.74 can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment;
  • CGPA 2.00 – 2.49 with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment.

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for any examination that has been aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as approved by the Senate
  • Letter of confirmation of academic qualification obtained using English as the medium of instruction issued by the University
  • International students originating from countries that use English as the official language (refer to The International Academic Grade Guide 2nd Edition).
  • Prospective students also have the option to take the HEET exam Higher Education English Test (HEET) as a language competency test Main English aligned to The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) to meet the entry requirements to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Requirements for Viva Voce

  • Doctor of Philosophy candidates need to fulfil the publication requirement as determined by the Faculty before thesis submission.
  • The course on KKKF6013: Research Methodology for Science and Technology Course or
    KKKF6033: Research Methodology for Science Social is compulsory for Master of Science candidates undertaking thesis/research.
  • Compulsory for International Candidates: Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi Antarabangsa;  atau Bahasa Melayu untuk Pelajar Nusantara
