The UKM Stadium, Azman Hashim UKM Sports Arena, multipurpose hall and Gemilang Hall are among the facilities that have been shared for various sports events. These facilities are regularly used by local schools and the public by charging both free and full fees for various facilities, fostering a sense of community engagement and encouraging active lifestyles. Reservations for these facilities can be made through the counter at the UKM Pavilion, ensuring organized and fair access to these resources.

UKM Stadium
UKM Stadium has a seating capacity of 450 people. The stadium features a 400-meter running track designed for sports events for free. The field is equipped for various events, including shot put, high jump, discus throw, pole vault, and javelin throw.

UKM Swimming Complex
UKM has a Swimming Pool Complex that is open to the public. The public can visit the complex every day except Wednesday evenings, to provide time for swimming classes and training sessions for instructors to undergo their weekly training and skill enhancement for teaching quality. The use of the pool is free, but if the public want to book paid swimming classes, they can visit the complex to book a session. By providing shared sports facilities, UKM promotes physical activity, which is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing non-communicable diseases such as obesity and heart disease. This initiative supports not only the health of the university community but also that of the wider public.

Danau Golf Club UKM
Danau Golf Club, located within the National University of Malaysia (UKM), is a well-established golfing destination that offers a picturesque and challenging 18-hole golf course. Set amidst natural surroundings, the course features rolling hills, scenic lakes, and lush greenery, providing both aesthetic appeal and a test of skill for golfers.
The golf club caters to golfers of all levels, offering facilities such as a driving range, pro shop, and clubhouse with dining options. It also serves as a venue for golfing tournaments and events, making it a popular spot for both recreational golfers and competitive players. With its strategic location on the UKM campus, the Danau Golf Club is easily accessible to students, staff, and the public.

Sexual and reproductive health care services for students
The University Health Centre at UKM provides comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care services free of charge to all campus residents, including staff and students. These services include promotion and consultation on various aspects of sexual and reproductive health, ensuring that individuals have access to the information and care they need to make informed decisions about their health.
During events such as the Health Carnival, UKM collaborates with Government and Non-Government Organizations such as the Ministry of Health, Insaf Murni, and PKKUM to offer additional services, including HIV and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) screening and consultations. This collaborative approach ensures that students and staff receive the highest quality of care and support, contributing to their overall well-being and reducing the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections on campus.

Mental health support
Mental health is a critical aspect of overall well-being and UKM provides extensive mental health services to all students and staff at no cost. Services include counselling sessions with both the Student Counselling Unit and the Human Resource Counsellor, as well as medical treatment from the Medical Officer at the University Health Centre.
One notable initiative is the “Kembara Kaunselor,” led by the Student Counselling Unit. This program involves trainee counsellors visiting various faculties and colleges to set up booths that promote mental health awareness. This outreach effort has been instrumental in engaging students in meaningful conversations about their mental well-being, providing on-the-spot support, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Through these initiatives, UKM ensures that mental health support is accessible, proactive and integrated into the everyday lives of its students and staff.

Smoke-free policy
As part of its commitment to promoting a healthy campus environment, UKM implemented a smoke-free policy on January 1, 2022. This policy is strictly enforced, with penalties for those who violate the smoking ban on campus. The goal is to create a smoke-free environment that supports the health of all campus residents.

To support this initiative, the University Health Centre offers a Quit Smoking Clinic service, available free of charge to all UKM residents, including staff and students. The clinic provides personalized support and resources to help individuals quit smoking, contributing to a healthier campus environment. This smoke-free policy and the accompanying support services not only protect non-smokers from secondhand smoke but also help smokers adopt healthier lifestyles, thereby improving the overall well-being of the university community.

Health Forum regarding Smoke & Vape Free Generation during Health Carnival in 2023

UKM’s initiatives in health and well-being demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving SDG 3. By providing shared sports facilities, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care services, robust mental health support, and enforcing a smoke-free policy, UKM is fostering a healthier, more supportive environment for its students, staff, and the broader community. These efforts are integral to ensuring that everyone on campus has the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

The European languages are members of the same family. Their separate existence is a myth. For science, music, sport, etc, Europe uses the same vocabulary. The languages only differ in their grammar, their pronunciation and their most common words.
Everyone realizes why a new common language would be desirable: one could refuse to pay expensive translators. To achieve this, it would be necessary to have uniform grammar, pronunciation and more common words.
If several languages coalesce, the grammar of the resulting language is more simple and regular than that of the individual languages. The new common language will be more simple and regular than the existing European languages. It will be as simple as Occidental; in fact, it will be Occidental. To an English person, it will seem like simplified English, as a skeptical Cambridge friend of mine told me what Occidental is. The European languages are members of the
