Malaysia (UKM) has a policy to reduce the impact of alien species on campus, as stated in the UKM Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030 which was developed in 2022 and had been reviewed in 2025. Under Sustainability Pillar 4: Sustainable Campus, Objective 8: Preservation and Conservation of Nature, UKM commits to conserving native flora and fauna while preventing the introduction and spread of invasive alien species. The plan mandates the development of a flora and fauna inventory, a digital biodiversity information system, and policy guidelines on conservation and preservation to monitor ecosystem health and mitigate threats from invasive species. Through its Permanent Forest Reserve, Botanical Gardens, and Living Labs, UKM implements habitat management and ecological restoration practices that prioritize native biodiversity. These integrated policies ensure that campus operations and land use actively protect local ecosystems, aligning with SDG 15: Life on Land.

Policy Created: 2022

Policy Review: 2025

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is committed to reducing the impact of invasive alien species (IAS) on campus through its UKM Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030, developed in 2022 and reviewed in 2025.
