It is believed that cooperatives could support the achievement of transforming the community as well as ensures inclusiveness. Cooperatives pursue both social and economic objectives. Indeed, the contribution of cooperatives in the economy is undeniable, and in fact it was expected to become the third engine that will accelerate the Malaysian economic growth after the public and private sector (Chukwukere &amp; Baharuddin, 2012). However, there are a number of weaknesses in Malaysian cooperatives such as the lack of governance mechanisms that can monitor management, absence of professional management team and insufficient member\u2019s activism. As a result, the growth of small and micro cooperatives has been very slow (Economic Reports Cooperative Sector, 2010). The situation if farmer\u2019s cooperative is similar. Thus, the\u00a0<\/span><b>objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0of this study is to use resource dependence theory to examine the effect of governance structure and process, member\u2019s activism and performance of oil palm farmer\u2019s cooperatives. This study will employ both qualitative (focus group interview) and quantitative (survey)\u00a0<\/span><b>method<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0of systematically sampled cooperatives.\u00a0<\/span><b>The outcomes\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of this study is important as input in developing training modules and in implementing good cooperatives governance that could enhance cooperatives performance.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","grant-category":[119,66],"research-keyword":[],"year-taxonomy":[],"class_list":["post-10257","research-custom","type-research-custom","status-publish","hentry","grant-category-small-2016","grant-category-small-research-grants"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-custom\/10257","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-custom"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/research-custom"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=10257"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"grant-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/grant-category?post=10257"},{"taxonomy":"research-keyword","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-keyword?post=10257"},{"taxonomy":"year-taxonomy","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/kursimpobukm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/year-taxonomy?post=10257"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
