The “Parasites & Insects: Understand, Prevent, Stay Healthy!” programme is a health initiative aimed at raising awareness among primary school students about the risks of parasitic infections and disease-carrying insects. Students are exposed to types of parasites such as worms and protozoa, as well as insects like mosquitoes, flies, and mites that can affect health.
Interactive activities focus on modes of infection, symptoms, and preventive measures, with an emphasis on personal hygiene and environmental care. The programme involves teachers and the entire school community to foster a culture of healthy living. It is hoped that the initiative will create a school community that is more aware, safe, and free from the threat of infectious diseases.
Objective:
Provide students with exposure to the types of parasites and insects that can be harmful to humans.
Increase awareness of the causes and modes of infection of medically important parasites and insects.
Offer guidance on preventive measures to avoid infections.
Encourage better personal and environmental hygiene practices among students.
