Makmal Bioserasi – Your Trusted Partner in Biocompatibility and Toxicity Testing

Makmal Bioserasi is a specialized testing facility under The Natural and Physical Laboratory Management Center of UKM (ALAF‑UKM) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), established in April 2003. With over two decades of experience, the laboratory has built a strong reputation in the field of biocompatibility and toxicity testing, particularly for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, herbal products, food, dietary supplements, pesticides, industrial chemicals, cosmetics, and environmental samples. The facility is accredited to MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and certified in accordance with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), making it one of the first university-based laboratories in Malaysia to obtain GLP certification for medical device testing.

Makmal Bioserasi is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and purpose-built laboratory spaces, supporting both in vitro and in vivo testing in compliance with international regulatory standards. The facility offers a comprehensive portfolio of safety testing services, including cytotoxicity, sensitization, irritation, systemic toxicity, subacute and subchronic toxicity studies, as well as genotoxicity assessments. In addition to laboratory services, Makmal Bioserasi also provides technical consultations and tailored training programs to meet industry needs.

Since 2013, the laboratory has successfully conducted over 1,000 tests, serving more than 350 clients from diverse sectors—including academia, industry, and government—at both the national and international levels.
