All allegations of misconduct are investigated, and outcomes follow the relevant <strong>COPE flowcharts<\/strong> (e.g., <strong>correction<\/strong>, <strong>expression of concern<\/strong>, <strong>retraction<\/strong>). Misconduct includes (but is not limited to) <strong>plagiarism<\/strong>, <strong>duplicate submission<\/strong>, <strong>data fabrication\/falsification<\/strong>, <strong>image manipulation<\/strong>, and <strong>authorship disputes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Report concerns<\/strong> to <strong><a href=\"mailto:myjea@ukm.edu.my\">myjea@ukm.edu.my<\/a><\/strong>; submissions will be handled <strong>confidentially<\/strong> by the Editor-in-Chief (EiC).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Peer-Review Policy<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Review model:<\/strong> <em>Single-blind<\/em> with <strong>\u22652 expert reviewers<\/strong> per manuscript.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Process (3 stages):<\/strong> <strong>Desk screening<\/strong> (scope\/ethics\/plagiarism) \u2192 <strong>External peer review<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Editor decision<\/strong> based on reviewers\u2019 recommendations (<strong>accept \/ minor \/ major \/ reject<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Service targets:<\/strong> <strong>Desk screening &lt; 7 days<\/strong>; <strong>first decision within 4\u20136 weeks<\/strong>; after acceptance, article posted as <strong>Early Access within \u22644 weeks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reviewer conduct:<\/strong> Maintain <strong>confidentiality<\/strong>; provide <strong>objective, constructive, evidence-based<\/strong> reports; <strong>declare COIs<\/strong>; meet agreed <strong>timelines<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Author responsibilities:<\/strong> Provide complete metadata, <strong>declare COIs<\/strong>, and follow MyJEA\u2019s ethics and data policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conflicts of Interest (COI)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Who must declare:<\/strong> <strong>Authors, reviewers, and editors<\/strong> must disclose any potential <strong>conflicts of interest<\/strong> that could bias\u2014or be perceived to bias\u2014the work or its evaluation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>What counts as a COI (non-exhaustive):<\/strong> <strong>Financial<\/strong> (grants, consulting fees, equity, patents, paid travel), <strong>personal\/professional<\/strong> (recent collaboration, supervision, family\/household), <strong>intellectual\/academic<\/strong> (strongly held positions directly related to the work), and <strong>institutional<\/strong> (an institution stands to benefit).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Author statement examples:<\/strong><ul><li>\u201c<strong>The authors declare no conflicts of interest.<\/strong>\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201c<strong>A.B.<\/strong> received consulting fees from <strong>XYZ Energy Sdn. Bhd.<\/strong>; <strong>C.D.<\/strong> is an inventor on <strong>US Patent 123456<\/strong>. The funder had no role in study design, data collection\/analysis, or publication.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Editorial handling:<\/strong> The editorial team will <strong>assess disclosures<\/strong>, <strong>reassign editors or reviewers<\/strong> and\/or <strong>secure recusals<\/strong> where appropriate. All COI disclosures are <strong>recorded in the editorial system<\/strong> for transparency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Plagiarism &amp; Image Integrity<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Screening:<\/strong> All submissions are checked by the editorial office using <strong>Turnitin<\/strong> at submission (and again after major revision if needed). As a <strong>screening guideline<\/strong>, MyJEA targets <strong>overall similarity \u226420%<\/strong> (<em>excluding references, quotations, title page, and small matches<\/em>). Editors will assess the <strong>report itself<\/strong>, not the number alone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Handling &amp; thresholds:<\/strong> Decisions are <strong>context-based<\/strong>. Large overlaps from a <strong>single source<\/strong>, substantial <strong>self-overlap<\/strong> (duplicate publication\/\u201csalami\u201d text), or unattributed reuse may lead to action even when the overall % is low. If legitimate overlap exists (e.g., methods boilerplate, preprint\/thesis), authors must <strong>cite the source<\/strong> and <strong>explain<\/strong> in the cover letter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Image integrity:<\/strong> Undisclosed image manipulation is <strong>not allowed<\/strong> (e.g., splicing, selective enhancement, cloning, altering intensities that mislead). Permitted adjustments (crop, brightness\/contrast applied uniformly, minor color balance) <strong>must be described in Methods<\/strong>, and original data provided on request.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Editorial actions:<\/strong> The editor may request <strong>clarification or revision<\/strong>, or proceed to <strong>reject<\/strong> the manuscript. Post-publication issues may result in a <strong>correction<\/strong>, <strong>expression of concern<\/strong>, or <strong>retraction<\/strong> following <strong>COPE<\/strong> guidance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authorship &amp; CRediT<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Authorship criteria:<\/strong> Each listed author must (i) make a <strong>substantial scholarly contribution<\/strong>, (ii) <strong>approve the final version<\/strong> to be published, and (iii) accept <strong>accountability<\/strong> for the integrity of the work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CRediT roles (required for all authors):<\/strong> For transparency, declare each author\u2019s roles using the <strong>CRediT taxonomy<\/strong> (list names next to the roles that apply).<br><strong>Roles:<\/strong> Conceptualization; Methodology; Software; Validation; Formal analysis; Investigation; Resources; Data curation; Writing \u2013 original draft; Writing \u2013 review &amp; editing; Visualization; Supervision; Project administration; Funding acquisition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How to present CRediT:<\/strong> In the manuscript\u2019s \u201cAuthor Contributions\u201d section and in the Google Form, list <strong>Author Name \u2014 Role(s)<\/strong> (e.g., <em>A.B. \u2014 Conceptualization, Methodology; C.D. \u2014 Formal analysis, Visualization<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Changes to authorship:<\/strong> Any <strong>addition, removal, or re-ordering<\/strong> of authors after submission requires <strong>written consent from all authors<\/strong> with a clear <strong>justification<\/strong>. Requests are subject to editorial approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Data, Materials &amp; Code Availability<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mandatory statement:<\/strong> Every manuscript must include a Data\/Materials\/Code Availability statement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Repositories &amp; links:<\/strong> Deposit supporting data\/code in a trusted repository (Zenodo, OSF, Figshare or institutional) and provide a persistent identifier (DOI) or stable URL to be cited in the article.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Materials &amp; access:<\/strong> Clearly state materials availability and any access restrictions\/embargo. For restricted items, describe the conditions for access and name the contact person (usually the corresponding author) for reasonable requests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsibility:<\/strong> Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, persistence, and suitability of shared data\/materials and for responding to fair requests in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Funding &amp; Acknowledgements<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Funding (required):<\/strong> List all <strong>funding agencies<\/strong> and <strong>grant numbers<\/strong> clearly. If there is no external funding, state this explicitly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilities &amp; institutional support:<\/strong> Acknowledge shared facilities, technical staff, in-kind contributions, and institutional support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ethics approvals (where applicable):<\/strong> Provide the <strong>committee name<\/strong>, <strong>approval number<\/strong>, and <strong>date<\/strong> for studies involving humans\/animals\/safety protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Funder role:<\/strong> If relevant, state whether funders had any role in <strong>study design, data collection\/analysis, manuscript preparation,<\/strong> or the <strong>decision to publish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example \u2014 Funding statement<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThis work was supported by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (FRGS\/1\/2025\/TK0\/UKM\/02\/1) and UKM GUP-2025-012.
