BANGI, 19 Feb 2016 – Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh has urged for more collaboration between Malaysian and Mexican universities, including book translations, student mobility programmes and academic partnership.

Launching the book Intisari Sejarah Mexico Baharu (New Compact History of Mexico), the Malay version of Nueva Historia Minimum De Mexico,  in Bangi on Feb 19, he was impressed with the cooperation between the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and a Mexican university in publishing the edition.

He said that ministry needs more books to be translated and not only from English to Malay but from Spanish directly to Malay because he hopes more students can go to Mexico to do the transcribing.

Idris also congratulated UKM for its collaboration with Mexico and called for further fruitful partnerships.

He said that the UKM Global Mobility programme has been emulated by universities  in Mexico and the fact that 100 Mexican students attended exchange visits to Malaysia in 2012,  have vindicated the partnership.

He called for more such mobility programmes between the two nations over the next two to three years.

Also present at the book launch was UKM Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali and Ambassador of Mexico to Malaysia,  Carlos Isauro Felix Corona.ukmnewsportal-eg
