Taman Tasik Cempaka Spruced Up Courtesy Of UKM And Others

BANGI, 21 December 2014 – Bangi’s residents can now enjoy a cleaner and neater Tasik Cempaka Recreation Park here after getting a beautification facelift by volunteers from universities and other organisations here today.

The programme was organised by The National University of Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kajang Municipal Council (MPKJ), Bandar Baru Bangi Residents Association (Bangiku) and Bangi Industral Administrative Association (BIAA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

It was inaugurated by Secretary of UKM’s National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) Ahmad Nazri Sulaiman. The programme began with an aerobics exercise followed by various activities such as gotong-royong, free health screenings, a community exhibition and others.

Trees were planted for ornamental landscaping courtesy of contributions from UPM, as well as park benches made of ferro-cement donated by UTM Skudai Johor.

The beautification programme also had a Community Showcase set up by the University Community Transformation Centre (LCTC). There was also a contest to see which team collected the most rubbish in an effort to clean up the area.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry & Community Partnerships) Prof Dr Imran Ho Abdullah, MPKJ Assistant Secretary Shukri Zahari, and BIAA President Hj Ahmad Sufie took part in the programme.
