The result showed that feeding was decreased with time and metabolism suppressed. At the end of 7 months of exposure, mobility had decreased while spawning was completely inhibited under the high CO2 condition,\u201d Prof Ishimatsu said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although his research team were not fish physiologists, they guessed that the effects resulted from damage to the fish\u2019s muscle system at both the natural and higher temperatures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Similar studies had been done by Japanese researchers and teams in other countries on Krill in the South Pole, with similar results.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prof Ishimatsu suggested to Prof Dato\u2019 Dr Sharifah Mastura Syed Abdullah, the UKM-YSD Chair for Climate Change, who was present, that researchers in Malaysia could do a similar study on a local common marine animal in Malaysian waters, such as shrimp or prawn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said fish all over the world were already under pressure from over-fishing.
