Also present was Martin Hubinger, the embassy\u2019s Deputy Head of Mission, who had done much to make\u00a0 the exhibition a reality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fury described Kafka as a reluctant writer whose works almost never got published, if not for the man\u2019s lawyer friend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kafka had entrusted his last will and testament to Max Brod, a lawyer who ignored the writer\u2019s\u00a0wish to have his\u00a0 manuscripts destroyed but published the works\u00a0 posthumously.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/news\/images\/stories\/Campus2013\/FranzKafka-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nKafka was reported to have told Brod, \u201cIn this way, no one will know that I was a writer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hubinger, who had put together another exhibition in UKM in 2011, gave a vivid account of Kafka, portraying him as a man of contradictions, lonely and detached.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Despite Kafka\u2019s middle-class upbringing, he wrote about situations that were surrealistic \u2013\u00a0bordering on fantasy and horror.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was a minority in his own country at several levels; born a Jew in a majority Catholic country, he was also a German-speaker in a nation where most people spoke Czech, which he spoke fluently as well.
