Dr\u00a0 Hasan Basri said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cPerhaps it is timely, we all look back at what we have achieved, the weaknesses and where our future directions will be before we move further into the Millennium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u201cI am therefore glad that this year\u2019s platform have decided to go on a \u2018reflection mode\u2019 before deciding to move forward, \u201d\u00a0said Prof Hassan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nMore than 500 participants from 25 countries are attending the three day conference to evaluate developments in oral health in Asia and set the compass for the future direction of preventive dentistry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nAmong the papers presented were <em>Preventive Management of the Special Needs, <\/em>by Professor Laurence Walsh, University of Brisbane (Australia), <em>Challenges in Preventive Clinical Practices for Patients with Disabilities<\/em> by Dr Liza Centeno (Philipines) and <em>Oral health Promotion for the Asian Older Population, <\/em>by Associate Professor Hiroshi Ogawa from Niggata University Japan. <em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nIn conjunction with the conference UKM signed two Memoranda of Associations with two higher institutions of learning to collaborate in the field of dental health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/news\/images\/stories\/Campus_News_Picture\/dentist2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/news\/images\/stories\/Campus_News_Picture\/dentist3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nOne was with the Health Sciences University of Mongolia to strengthen cooperation in the field of dental health which also involves the exchange of dental health students between the two universities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe second MoU was signed with Global Child Dental Fund, Kings College London to promot e research in the fields of dental health and its impact on the disadvantage children in Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nDental health might not be taken seriously Yet it has well documented that children that is born with a cleft lip encounter problems with their future physiological\u00a0 development.
