Her 5 years of working with the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) at a refugee camp in the Philippines gave her the first hand understanding of the collective and differentiating cultures of people from the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It was her refugee camp work experiences and exposures that gave her the advantage in assuming academic leadership role when she moved to Cambodia. It was her full understanding of the Southeast Asian culture that enabled her to implement academic programs from the students’ level involving establishing networks and linkages for students with different business and international entities to the management level involving partnership and cooperation for the university with stakeholders within and outside Cambodia. Her active and ongoing engagements with EU-SHARE Programs and other events with international students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Timor-Leste is a proof of how she fully understands ASEAN from different perspectives.

Abdul Latiff Ahmad

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Assoc.
