CEO’s TALK with Ybhg Tan Sri Zainul Azman

UKM is always proactively collaborating with industry leaders on initiatives, which would enhance the competency of our students as well as staff. All offices in UKM have conducted many programmes in collaboration with the industry. For example, our students have participated in excellent programmes developed by Maybank “Maybank GO Ahead Challenge”. One of our partners, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, has donated YAG Laser Machines valued at more than RM500,000 to enhance research and learning at research in microelectronics and nanotechnology. Our entrepreneurship centre, UKM CESMED has actively engaged hundreds of SMEs to groom our students with many kinds of programmes and entrepreneurship focused courses, which enable students to acquire a wide range of business opportunities in the cross-academic discipline.

Among the lessons we could learn from the CEOs of the successful companies were candid sharing of various kinds of problems they face, the decisions the company makes in response, and some important characteristics of the problem-solving environment. Now that we have Tan Sri Zainul Azman with us, we hope that students and academic staff can focus on the sharing because we rarely get an opportunity like this. We hope to have more programmes soon in UKM to be jointly developed in collaboration with very important agencies such as SME Corp, PUNB as well as the companies which hosted our invited CEOs.
