    What is collaboration all about?
    Collaboration is partly about creating structures (meeting places, financial support, etc.) that enable collaboration between different parties and partly about ensuring that collaboration is carried out with collaborators’ support. The parties involved in the collaboration must all feel that they gain from participating.

    How can my company/organisation collaborate with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia?
    There are many ways to collaborate with the university and in order to find what’s best for your company/organisation, we need first to understand the specific needs of your business.

    If you are interested in research collaboration, but have no established contacts, the easiest way is to contact us at PHI. We can help you get in touch with researchers in the field you are interested in, find suitable forms for collaboration and get support in starting up.

  • Where is the Industry Liaison Office located?

    The Industry Liaison Office is located on Level Five, Chancellery Building, UKM. The Industry Liaison Office operates under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network).

  • What is meant by cooperation with Industry?

    Cooperation with industry refers to placement industrial training, research, career opportunities, professional services, student awards, consulting services, expertise sharing, facility sharing, income generation, and organization of University-Industry related activities.

  • What is the role of the Industry Liaison Office?

    Industry Liaison Office serves as a facilitator in networking strategic cooperation between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or faculty/institute/service centre with the industry. As a matter of practice, the Industry Liaison Office will be the intermediary for the purpose of bilateral discussions between UKM and the industry, assist in the preparation of documentation, and assist faculty/institute/service centre in establishing initial relations with the industry.

  • What do I need to do if I want to get UKM students to undergo industrial training in my organization?

    Interested organizations can submit an application letter to get UKM students to undergo industrial training and must be sent to the Industry Liaison Office through the following methods:

    Sent directly to Industry Liaison Office, Level 5, Chancellery Building, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.

     

     The content of the official letter should be clearly stated about the organizational background, required study program, the scope of training to be given to students, and specific criteria required for example such as CGPA, language skills, computer skills, and so on.

  • Whom should I contact if I want to seek advice if my Faculty/Institute/service centre intends to establish a network of cooperation or hold activities with the industry?

    The Industry Liaison Office acts as an intermediary to assist Faculty/Institute/service centre in creating a network of strategic cooperation or holding industry activities. Faculty/Institute/service centre can contact the Industry Liaison Office Officer directly at 03-8921 4529 for more information

  • What is the definition of Industrial Training?

    Industrial Training refers to the placement of students in an organization to conduct supervised practical training in the industry sector within the stipulated time before they are awarded a bachelor’s degree. The training conducted is based on the concept of learning through the practice of practicing theories and academic concepts that have been learned in real work situations.

  • What is the duration of industrial training?

    Industrial training period based on the student study program. The accumulated period for industrial training shall not be less than 3 months or the period set by any professional body that has the authority to award accreditation or according to the period determined by the Faculty or based on the requirements set under the Malaysian Qualifications Framework. (MQF).

  • Can students take leave during the industrial training period?

    Students are not allowed to take leave while in industrial training except with the approval of the organization related to the conditions have been informed to the Faculty and the Industry Liaison Office. Students also need to replace the holiday period.

     

    Students who are unable to attend industrial training for a period of more than six (6) days due to an emergency or sick leave without obtaining confirmation from the government hospital / UKM Panel Clinic are deemed ineligible to graduate. Then it is necessary to change the period.

     

    If the student is found to have deliberately not attended the industrial training without a good reason the Faculty reserves the right to fail and the student needs to repeat and register the industrial training course in the next semester.

  • What is the Meaning of UKM Graduate Marketability?

    Referring to the concept paper Competitiveness of Local Graduates (IPT) by the National Higher Research Institute (IPPTN), marketability is defined as the skills or abilities possessed by graduates that make prospective employers interested in offering them jobs (using modifications from Macmillan English Dictionary, 2002). In this context, marketability should include elements such as: –

     

    a. compatibility/agreement/appropriateness, i.e. the ability to develop a form of a solution that is compatible with the work culture and goals;

     

    b. Flexibility, that is, the ability to provide appropriate work services that are appropriate to the project or task being carried out;

     

    c. Reliability, that is, able to be responsive to the needs of employers and customers, meet the time and work targets; and

     

    d. Sensibility is to be able to carry out a work approach that meets the true value of the work required by the employer, such as an informative approach, cost-effectiveness and so on.
