BITARA MELAYU ditubuhkan pada tahun 2001 menerusi penstrukturan semula Fakulti Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan. Pada asalnya, pusat pengajian ini terdiri daripada gabungan tiga program pengajian iaitu Program Pengajian Bahasa Melayu, Program Persuratan Melayu dan Program Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Melayu. Pada masa kini, BITARA MELAYU terdiri daripada dua program pengajian, iaitu Program Pengajian Bahasa Melayu dan Program Persuratan Melayu yang menawarkan kursus prasiswazah manakala Program Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Melayu ditawarkan pada peringkat siswazah sahaja.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pusat Kajian Bahasa, Kesusasteraan dan Kebudayaan Melayu (BITARA MELAYU) merupakan nama baharu kepada Pusat Pengajian Bahasa, Kesusasteraan dan Kebudayaan Melayu (PPBKKM).
