This has been achieved through a balanced combination of individuals and collaborative group of interests. The focus of my research is in applying bioelectrochemical engineering science to problem in the area of microbial electrochemistry and technologies. While the emphasis is very much on applied research, often a fundamental understanding of the nature of the problem is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Most of my research involves working with Bioelectrochemical system (BES) especially microbial fuel cells and microbial electrolysis cells. BES is an alternative technology used to generate renewable energy from wastes. Even though it sounds promising, the system still suffers from low and unstable power output due to its biological behaviour. Bioelectrodes can be enriched with specified type of microorganisms to perform certain redox reactions while generating particular products. To ensure the stability of the bioelectrodes and outputs, optimised operating condition is required. Different operating strategies are being explored to minimise any control parameter meant to optimise the condition.
