Biography:
Dr. Suhaila Sepeai actively involved in UKM R&D since 2005. She involved in fabrication of nanoelectronic devices, namely organic light emitting diode (OLED) for flat panel display from 2005-2007 and silicon (Si) solar cell from 2008 to present. She has shown excellent achievements on nanotechnology and renewable energy in UKM. She has published a total of 31 publications, won 5 medals in national and international innovation and invention competitions, and has two patents filed. Moreover, she has presented her work in 19 international conferences.  She is a member of Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Society (MASS). She has acquired vast experience in the thin film technology, device fabrication and device simulation. In 2008, she attached in Gratings Inc. at Albuquerque, USA for project of “Surface Passivation Studies by SiN/SiO2 Deposited by PECVD”. Her research on Si bifacial solar cell with conversion efficiency of ~17% has significant impact on the Si photovoltaic industry especially on the price reduction through manufacturing of thinner wafers. She has contributed to developing a new combination method for emitter and BSF formation for Si bifacial solar cell. Her method will eventually lead towards a low cost manufacturing cost by simplification of the fabrication process. Her current researches are now focusing on Silicon Quantum Dot (SiQD), amorphous Silicon-Germanium (SiGe), the implementation of potential material such as Perovskite on Si solar cell for enhancing the light absorption. She also expands the bifacial solar cell research aimed at simplified process such as in-situ diffusion for emitter and back surface field. Her aim in silicon solar cell research is improve the efficiency at low fabrication cost. In addition, she was also actively involve as a Key Instructor for the course of Green Technology in the Permata Pintar Negara, which is the brainchild of DS Rosmah Mansor since 2010. She becomes the pioneer to develop the curriculum for Green Technology which includes applications for solar cells.
