9 Oktober 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) telah menerima kunjungan rasmi daripada delegasi Singapore Polytechnic. Lawatan tersebut diketuai oleh Pensyarah Singapore Polytechnic, Mr. Tee Jie Kai, bersama Dr. Sim Guek Eng, serta disertai oleh 22 orang pelajar dalam bidang Sains Bioperubatan.

Program dimulakan dengan ucapan alu-aluan oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Timbalan Dekan (Hal Ehwal Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat), diikuti dengan ucapan balas daripada wakil Singapore Polytechnic. Seterusnya, sesi perbincangan dua hala telah diadakan dalam suasana yang mesra dan bermanfaat, membincangkan pelbagai aspek berkaitan pendidikan, penyelidikan, serta hubungan industri.

Selain itu, delegasi turut berpeluang melawat beberapa unit utama di Fakulti Perubatan, antaranya Pusat Penyimpanan Biobank (UMBI), Unit Fisioterapi, Unit Terapi Carakerja, Unit Pertuturan, Unit Audiologi, serta Unit Prostetik.

Lawatan ini diharap dapat memperkukuh hubungan kerjasama akademik dan industri antara kedua-dua institusi, serta membuka peluang kepada inisiatif kolaboratif yang lebih strategik dan produktif pada masa akan datang.

6 Oktober 2025  Fakulti Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) menyambut kehadiran delegasi daripada University of Manchester (Kampus Singapura) bagi sesi perbincangan yang bermakna mengenai potensi kolaborasi dalam bidang sains bioperubatan, kesihatan awam serta pendekatan pembelajaran hibrid yang inovatif.

Pertemuan ini membuka ruang baharu bagi pelaksanaan program pascasiswazah bersama, pertukaran pelajar, dan kerjasama penyelidikan antarabangsa — sekali gus memperkukuh rangkaian akademik global UKM.

Bersama-sama, kita merintis hubungan strategik yang memperhebat penyelidikan, memperkaya pendidikan dan memperluas horizon pembelajaran tanpa sempadan.

30 September 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) telah menerima lawatan daripada delegasi Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU), Indonesia pada 30 September 2025 bertempat di Dewan Khalid Kadir, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM). Bagi pihak UKM, ucapan pembukaan disampaikan oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Hardip Singh, Penyelaras Strategik, Sekretariat Hal Ehwal Jaringan, Industri dan Masyarakat (HEJIM), yang hadir mewakili Dekan Fakulti Perubatan, Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki. Turut serta ialah Prof. Madya Dr. Ng Boon Hau, Penyelaras Industri HEJIM Fakulti Perubatan, bagi mengalu-alukan kedatangan tetamu.

Delegasi SCU pula diketuai oleh Dr. Marcella Elwina Simandjuntak, Dekan Fakulti Undang-Undang dan Komunikasi, dengan jumlah peserta lebih 40 orang yang terdiri daripada pelajar Sarjana Undang-Undang Kesihatan, mahasiswa peringkat sarjana muda, serta pensyarah pengiring. Kedua-dua institusi telah mengadakan sesi perbincangan dua hala yang memberi tumpuan kepada beberapa topik penting termasuk penyediaan garis panduan penjagaan paliatif, latihan doktor perubatan dalam bidang tersebut, aspek “Do Not Resuscitate (DNR)”, serta peluang penyelidikan dalam disiplin paliatif.

Selain itu, sesi turut diperkaya dengan syarahan ilmiah bertajuk Palliative Care yang disampaikan oleh Dr. Nor Azizan Zakaria, Ketua Unit Perubatan Paliatif, Jabatan Perubatan HCTM. Rombongan juga berpeluang mengikuti sesi soal jawab, pertukaran cenderamata, serta lawatan ke Muzium Anatomi dan kemudahan HCTM. Fakulti Perubatan berharap inisiatif ini dapat mengukuhkan jaringan akademik antara kedua-dua universiti, khususnya dalam bidang perubatan, undang-undang kesihatan serta pembangunan modal insan pada masa hadapan.

11 September 2025 Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) berbesar hati menerima kunjungan delegasi dari Universiti Gifu, Jepun pada 11 September 2025 (Khamis). Delegasi tersebut diketuai oleh Presiden Kazuhiro Yoshida dan diiringi oleh Naib Presiden Prof. Lee Wah Lim (Pencapaian Global, Kepelbagaian, Jantina dan Perpustakaan), Prof. Nobuhisa Matsuhashi (Jabatan Gastroenterologi dan Pembedahan Pediatrik), Prof. Madya Kazuhiro Kumabe (Kolaborasi Industri-Universiti, Fakulti Kejuruteraan) serta En. Kohsuke Maeda (Jabatan Penglibatan Antarabangsa).

Sepanjang lawatan tersebut, delegasi telah melawat beberapa Pusat Kecemerlangan UKM termasuk Pusat Gamma Knife, Pusat Servis Endoskopi, Wad Strok dan Pusat Pakar UKM. Turut serta mengiringi delegasi ialah Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Timbalan Dekan (Jaringan, Industri & Masyarakat), Prof. Madya Dr. Ramesh Kumar Athi Kumar, Pakar Bedah Neurosurgeri, serta Prof. Madya Dr. Wan Asyraf bin Wan Zaidi, Pakar Perunding Neurologi dari Fakulti Perubatan UKM.

Lawatan ini bukan sahaja mengeratkan hubungan akademik tetapi turut membuka ruang perbincangan bermakna mengenai program pertukaran pelajar dan kerjasama penyelidikan antara UKM dan Universiti Gifu. Kedua-dua institusi beriltizam untuk membina perkongsian yang kukuh dalam memajukan pendidikan perubatan, penyelidikan berteknologi tinggi dan penglibatan global.

29 Ogos 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) berbesar hati menerima kunjungan delegasi daripada Fakulti Kejururawatan, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand pada 29 Ogos 2025 bertempat di Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM.

Mesyuarat ini telah menjadi platform untuk membincangkan pendidikan kejururawatan, penyelidikan bersama, khidmat komuniti serta peluang kerjasama antarabangsa dalam bidang kesihatan. Antara fokus utama yang diketengahkan termasuk penjagaan warga emas, kesihatan ibu dan anak, trauma serta penjagaan berasaskan komuniti.

Mewakili UKM ialah Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar (Timbalan Dekan Jaringan Industri & Masyarakat) bagi pihak Dekan Fakulti Perubatan, Prof. Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim (Timbalan Dekan Pascasiswazah), Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Helmy Mokhtar (Penolong Dekan Keusahawanan), Prof. Madya Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail (Penolong Dekan Pengajaran & Citra), Dr. Syamsa Rizal Abdullah (Penolong Dekan Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni), serta Dr. Jalina Karim (Ketua Jabatan Kejururawatan). Delegasi PSU pula diketuai oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Luppana Kitrungrote, Dekan Fakulti Kejururawatan.

Lawatan ini menjadi pemangkin kepada pengukuhan jaringan akademik, penyelidikan dan inovasi demi manfaat pendidikan serta penjagaan kesihatan di rantau ini.

28 Ogos 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) telah menerima kunjungan delegasi dari Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, bagi sesi perbincangan antara kedua-dua institusi.

Perbincangan tertumpu kepada pendidikan perubatan klinikal, latihan penyelidikan serta kerjasama antarabangsa. Kedua-dua universiti menekankan laluan untuk pelajar perubatan melanjutkan pengajian daripada peringkat prasiswazah ke pascasiswazah, dengan penekanan yang kuat terhadap pengalaman penyelidikan secara praktikal.

Lawatan tersebut diakhiri dengan pertukaran cenderamata dan sesi jaringan mesra, yang mencerminkan hubungan akademik erat antara UKM dan Universitas Brawijaya.

Antara yang hadir mewakili UKM ialah Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki (Dekan), Prof. Dr. Hamzaini Abdul Hamid (Penyelaras MoU antara UKM dan Universitas Brawijaya), Prof. Madya Dr. Teoh Seong Lin, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Helmy Mokhtar, Prof. Madya Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Heikal Mohd Yunus, Dr. Mohammad Arif Kamarudin, dan Dr. Lydia Kamaruzaman.

Delegasi dari Universitas Brawijaya pula diketuai oleh Prof. Dr. dr. Wisnu Barlianto (Dekan), disertai oleh Dr. Happy Kurnia Permatasari, Dr. Hanif, Dr. Rachmad Sarwo Bekti, dan Dr. Bethasvivi Purbasari.

12 Ogos 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) dengan sukacitanya menerima kunjungan hormat daripada delegasi terkemuka Shiga University of Medical Science bertempat di Bilik Telepersidangan, Aras 2, Kompleks Pendidikan Perubatan Canselor Tuanku Jaafar, HCTM.

Mesyuarat yang dipengerusikan oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Timbalan Dekan (Hal Ehwal Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat (HEJIM), berlangsung dalam suasana mesra dan terbuka. Perbincangan memberi tumpuan kepada kerjasama strategik dalam bidang kejururawatan dan penyelidikan, di samping membuka peluang untuk program pertukaran pelajar antara kedua-dua institusi. Sesi ini turut menjadi platform untuk bertukar pandangan, berkongsi kepakaran serta merangka pelan tindakan demi manfaat bersama.

Menariknya, kedua-dua delegasi turut membincangkan rancangan untuk lawatan susulan pada Mac 2026, yang menekankan komitmen jangka panjang dalam memperkukuh jaringan akademik dan penyelidikan.

Turut hadir daripada UKM ialah Prof. Dr. Norazlina Mohamed (Timbalan Dekan, Prasiswazah), Prof. Emerita Dato’ Dr. Wan Zurinah Wan Ngah (Profesor Emeritus, Jabatan Biokimia) dan Dr. Jalina Karim (Ketua Jabatan, Jabatan Kejururawatan). Manakala mewakili Shiga University of Medical Science ialah Prof. Mihoko Ogita dan Prof. Satoko Kasahara (Profesor, Fakulti Kejururawatan) serta Prof. Rabiatul Adawaiyah Razali (Profesor Madya, Bahagian Penyelidikan Kolaboratif Antarabangsa, MIRC).

Inisiatif ini membuktikan bahawa sempadan geografi bukanlah penghalang, sebaliknya menjadi jambatan untuk memperluaskan kerjasama dalam memajukan ilmu, penyelidikan dan pendidikan kejururawatan di peringkat global.

16 Jun 2025 Fakulti Perubatan, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) telah menerima kunjungan hormat daripada delegasi Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan, Universitas Warmadewa, Indonesia. Lawatan ini bertujuan untuk meneroka potensi kerjasama akademik dalam bidang pendidikan, penyelidikan dan khidmat masyarakat, selaras dengan aspirasi Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Delegasi Universitas Warmadewa diketuai oleh Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gde Suranaya Pandit, M.P, selaku Rektor universiti tersebut. Turut mengiringi beliau ialah Dr. dr. Made Indra Wijaya, MARS., PhD., FISQua (Dekan Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan), Dr. dr. DAP Sri Masyeni, Sp.PD-KPTI (Naib Rektor Bidang Akademik, Penyelidikan dan Khidmat Masyarakat), serta Dr. Sartivi Harkitasari, Sp.S., M.Biomed (Timbalan Dekan bagi bidang yang sama). Delegasi turut disertai oleh Dr. Anak Agung Indraningrat (Ketua Jabatan Penyelidikan) dan Anak Agung Istri Laksmi Darmayanti, S.Sos., Ns. (Ketua Unit Pentadbiran Universitas Warmadewa).

Delegasi UKM pula diketuai oleh Prof. Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dekan Fakulti Perubatan. Turut hadir dalam sesi pertemuan ini ialah Prof. Dr. Norazlina Mohamed (Timbalan Dekan Prasiswazah), Prof. Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim (Timbalan Dekan Siswazah), Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar (Timbalan Dekan Hal Ehwal Jaringan, Industri & Masyarakat), Prof. Madya Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail (Penolong Dekan Pengajaran & Citra), Dr. Syamsa Rizal Abdullah (Penolong Dekan Hal Ehwal Pelajar & Alumni) serta En. Zansyuwari Mohamad Shahrullail, Ketua Pentadbiran Fakulti.

Dalam ucapan aluan, Prof. Marina menzahirkan komitmen UKM untuk meneroka dan memperkukuh kerjasama serantau dengan institusi pengajian tinggi luar negara. Beliau menegaskan bahawa hubungan akademik seperti ini berupaya memperluas jaringan ilmu serta membuka peluang pembangunan profesional kepada pelajar dan pensyarah kedua-dua institusi.

Antara cadangan kerjasama yang dibincangkan termasuklah pelaksanaan program elektif pertukaran pelajar, penglibatan pensyarah jemputan UKM ke Universitas Warmadewa, program Fellowship, serta pelaksanaan Medical Practicum Elective 2025 yang dirancang untuk memberikan pengalaman klinikal, khidmat komuniti dan pendedahan budaya kepada pelajar antarabangsa di UKM. Delegasi Universitas Warmadewa turut menyatakan minat yang tinggi untuk menjalinkan hubungan kerjasama jangka panjang bersama UKM sebagai sebahagian daripada rangka lawatan akademik mereka ke Malaysia.

Pertemuan ini menjadi titik permulaan yang signifikan dalam usaha membina hubungan dua hala yang saling menguntungkan demi kemajuan bidang pendidikan, penyelidikan dan kesihatan di peringkat serantau.

30 Mei 2025 – Fakulti Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) dengan penuh penghargaan telah menerima lawatan hormat daripada delegasi Kolej Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan, Universiti Hadhramout, Yaman. Delegasi ini diketuai oleh Prof. Dr. Saleh Bahwal selaku Dekan Fakulti, bersama-sama Prof. Dr. Khaled Bin Madi (Timbalan Dekan Hal Ehwal Akademik) dan Dr. Mohammed Hassan (Timbalan Dekan Kualiti, Pembangunan dan Khidmat Komuniti merangkap Penyelaras Unit Akreditasi Akademik).

Sesi kunjungan tersebut dipengerusikan oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Timbalan Dekan (Hal Ehwal Jaringan, Industri dan Masyarakat), disertai oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Teoh Seong Lin, Penolong Dekan Kualiti & Strategi dan Dr. Lydia Kamaruzaman, Ketua Program Prasiswazah.

Objektif utama lawatan ini adalah bagi meneroka kemungkinan kerjasama dalam bidang akademik dan penyelidikan, termasuk perbincangan awal ke arah pemeteraian Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) atau Memorandum Perjanjian (MoA). Selain itu, kedua-dua pihak turut bertukar pandangan dan kepakaran dalam bidang pendidikan perubatan dan aspek akreditasi akademik.

Delegasi turut dibawa melawat beberapa fasiliti utama seperti Makmal Penyelidikan Jabatan Kejuruteraan Tisu dan Perubatan Regeneratif, Makmal Simulasi di Jabatan Pendidikan Perubatan serta Perpustakaan Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, untuk melihat secara dekat pendekatan pembelajaran interaktif yang digunakan di UKM.
Adalah diharapkan kunjungan ini dapat membuka lebih banyak ruang kerjasama ke arah kecemerlangan di peringkat global.

20 Mei 2025 – Sekretariat Hal Ehwal Jaringan Industri dan Masyarakat (HEJIM), Fakulti Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) telah menerima lawatan rasmi daripada delegasi Apple Malaysia bagi membincangkan peluang kerjasama strategik yang berpotensi.

Sesi pertemuan ini melibatkan perbincangan bersama Puan Kartini Basri (Pengurus Pendidikan) dan Encik Sathes Narayannan (Jurutera Sistem) daripada Apple Malaysia, dengan tumpuan diberikan kepada aspek pemerkasaan teknologi, pemindahan ilmu, serta penterjemahan hasil penyelidikan kepada aplikasi dalam dunia sebenar.

Delegasi UKM diketuai oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Timbalan Dekan (Hal Ehwal Jaringan, Industri dan Masyarakat). Turut serta dalam sesi ini ialah Prof. Madya Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail dan Prof. Dr. Syahrul Sazliyana Shahrir selaku Penolong Dekan, Dr. Hardip Singh Gendeh (Penyelaras HEJIM), serta Encik Ahmad Bukhari Latib dan Cik Nadiatul Aisyah Zakaria.

Kerjasama yang dirintis ini diharapkan dapat memperkukuh penggunaan teknologi dalam bidang penyelidikan, pendidikan dan perkhidmatan klinikal di Fakulti Perubatan UKM, seiring dengan keperluan dan cabaran era digital semasa.

15 Mei 2025– Lawatan hormat telah dilaksanakan oleh Sekretariat Jaringan, Industri & Masyarakat (HEJIM), Fakulti Perubatan UKM bersama wakil daripada Sultanggmedia ke Pusat Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Lawatan ini merupakan langkah strategik untuk meneroka potensi kerjasama yang lebih kukuh dalam memperkasa peranan pelajar serta mengeratkan hubungan antara fakulti dan pusat universiti.

Matlamat utama kunjungan ini adalah untuk mendapatkan pemahaman lebih mendalam mengenai struktur pentadbiran dan fungsi utama HEP, di samping membincangkan kemungkinan kolaborasi dalam pelaksanaan serta promosi program pembangunan pelajar dan komuniti kampus. Delegasi HEJIM telah disambut mesra oleh Pengarah HEP, YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norinsan Kamil bin Othman dan Timbalan Pengarah (Pembangunan), Dr. Munira Ismail, bersama beberapa pegawai kanan HEP.

Dalam sesi diskusi, pelbagai topik telah dibincangkan termasuk keperluan mewujudkan saluran komunikasi rasmi dengan persatuan pelajar dan Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) bagi tujuan penyebaran maklumat berkaitan program-program anjuran HEJIM, terutamanya program berunsur kesedaran kesihatan untuk warga kampus. Pihak HEP menyatakan komitmen padu dalam menyokong promosi dan penyebaran maklumat tersebut, sejajar dengan usaha meningkatkan kesejahteraan menyeluruh pelajar.

Antara cadangan menarik yang dikemukakan termasuk promosi Webinar Umum Memasyarakatkan Kesihatan Rakyat anjuran HEJIM yang akan diadakan secara percuma dan terbuka kepada semua warga kampus, lengkap dengan ganjaran hadiah e-wallet bernilai RM300. Selain itu, Sultanggmedia turut menawarkan 30 slot penyertaan percuma kepada pelajar dan staf UKM untuk menyertai Bengkel Pengacaraan bersama Fedtri Yahya yang dijadualkan pada 18 Mei 2025 di Fakulti Perubatan UKM. Pihak HEP menyambut baik inisiatif ini sebagai peluang bermanfaat dalam pembangunan kemahiran komunikasi dalam kalangan warga universiti.

Delegasi juga berpeluang melawat kemudahan utama HEP termasuk pejabat yang telah dinaik taraf dengan konsep moden, ruang eSports UKM yang dilengkapi simulasi perlumbaan, cybercafé dan snuker, ruang rehat dan pemulihan dengan kerusi urut serta bilik perbincangan. Turut diperkenalkan ialah sistem HAlo Kaunselor dan Ruang Katarsis yang menyediakan persekitaran terapeutik untuk menyokong kesejahteraan emosi pelajar.

Pihak HEJIM merakamkan ucapan terima kasih yang tidak terhingga kepada Pengarah dan seluruh pasukan HEP atas sambutan mesra, perkongsian yang bernilai dan kesediaan untuk menjalin kerjasama strategik demi manfaat pelajar dan pembangunan komuniti UKM secara menyeluruh. Lawatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pemacu kepada hubungan kerjasama yang lebih meluas dan signifikan antara jabatan, pusat serta pihak industri dan media dalam menyokong aspirasi universiti sebagai institusi berteraskan komuniti dan negara.

                                 10th April 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received a courtesy visit from a delegation of China Medical University Hospital (CMUH), Taichung, Taiwan. Held at the Faculty’s Teleconference Room, the visit aimed to strengthen international collaboration in medicine, research, and health technology innovation.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UKM, while the CMUH delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Der-Yang Cho, Superintendent and Neurosurgery Specialist. Key discussions included CMUH’s offer of an International Fellowship Training Programme with waived training fees, and potential collaborations in smart treatment technologies such as robotic neurosurgery, AI-driven drug discovery, as well as joint research in cell therapy and tissue engineering.

Both parties agreed to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on education, clinical training, and research collaboration. This strategic initiative marks a significant step toward cross-border medical excellence and opens doors for expertise and technology exchange between the two institutions.

                     27th February 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) welcomed a delegation from Xiamen University Malaysia, led by Asst. Prof. Ts. Dr. Wong Lai Wan, Registrar of the university. The session, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Deputy Dean of Industry and Community Partnerships at UKM, focused on exploring potential collaboration in teaching and learning, including joint supervision and collaborative research opportunities between both institutions.

Representatives from UKM’s Faculty of Medicine who were present included Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nasir Shafiee (Deputy Dean), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Helmy Mokhtar (Assistant Dean of Entrepreneurship), Prof. Dr. Syahrul Sazliyana Shaharir (Assistant Dean of Clinical Services), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail (Assistant Dean of Teaching & Citra), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Heikal Mohd Yunus (International Relations Coordinator), and Dr. Fairus Bin Ahmad (Head of the Department of Anatomy).

The Xiamen University Malaysia delegation comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kim Yun Jin (Head of Postgraduate TCM Programme), Asst. Prof. Dr. Chep Lee Lu Siang (Head of Undergraduate TCM Programme), Mr. Koh Kuan Wei (Assistant Manager), and Ms. Teo Jia Yi (Executive). This visit is expected to strengthen academic ties, promote staff and student mobility, and foster collaborative research and knowledge exchange in the field of medical education.

 

                   

  27th January 2025 –The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) had the honour of receiving a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Maldives National University (MNU). This visit served as a reciprocal engagement to further solidify ongoing collaborations between UKM’s Faculty of Medicine and the Maldives National University in the field of medical education.

Chairing the session was Professor Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor of UKM Kuala Lumpur Campus, who highlighted in his welcoming address that the visit reflects the strong commitment of both institutions in their shared mission to elevate the quality of medical education and to strengthen bilateral ties.

Discussions during the session focused on the offering of a newly tailored Doctor of Medicine curriculum designed to meet the needs of Maldives National University. The structure of the Family Medicine Specialist Programme was also introduced as a potential area of collaboration that could be adapted and implemented in the Maldives.

Also present at the session were Professor Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, along with other members of the faculty’s management team.

The MNU delegation was given a tour of UKM’s Kuala Lumpur Campus, including visits to several cutting-edge medical education facilities. These included the Anatomy Museum, Simulation Laboratory, Advanced Surgical Skills Centre (ASSC), and the UKMSC Gamma Knife Centre.

                   20th January 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through the International Relations Unit (UPA), welcomed a group of 44 first-year students from the UKM-UNPAD Double Degree Programme in Doctor of Medicine & Master of Medicine, accompanied by representatives from Edvan Global Link. This visit aimed to provide comprehensive exposure to the students, including a campus tour around Kuala Lumpur Campus and briefings on the academic curriculum, CITRA courses, and student life adaptation in Malaysia.

This inaugural visit was graced by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki. A detailed briefing on the new curriculum structure was presented by the Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, while the Assistant Dean of Teaching & CITRA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail, explained the CITRA courses offered to the students. In addition, the Coordinator of the International Relations Unit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Heikal Mohd Yunus, shared useful insights on how students can adjust to life in Malaysia.

To add further value to the session, representatives from Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail, Zecon Hotel Sdn. Bhd., and Komune Living and Wellness were invited to present their respective accommodation packages to the students. Senior students from Year 3 and Year 5 of the same programme were also present to share their clinical learning experiences at the Kuala Lumpur Campus. The visit concluded with a tour of key facilities including the simulation lab, clinics, lecture halls, and student residences at Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail.

                   9th January 2025 –  The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), welcomed a courtesy visit from Professor Brad Mackay, Vice Principal of the University of St Andrews. He was received by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Kuala Lumpur Campus, Professor Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid.The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities between both institutions across various areas, particularly in research, student and staff training, and the possibility of a joint degree programme. During the meeting, Prof. Brad Mackay shared the University of St Andrews’ extensive experience in student supervision and placements, and expressed a strong interest in establishing staff and student training partnerships. UKM also highlighted its two main teaching hospitals — Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz and Hospital Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani (HPKK) — as potential platforms for impactful research collaborations.

Discussions further delved into potential research partnerships, with a focus on data sharing and collaborative research experience. Prof. Mackay proposed exploring matching grant opportunities and identifying effective mechanisms to foster deeper cooperation. UKM, in turn, expressed readiness to enhance its existing research frameworks to generate more high-impact studies, especially in the fields of genomics and medical sciences.

Both parties agreed to continue discussions virtually, including plans to co-organize seminars, particularly in the area of virtual reality technology. As a globally renowned research institution, St Andrews also offered its expertise in idea development, research model sharing, and robust evaluation methodologies.

Additionally, both institutions discussed the prospect of establishing a dual degree programme in medicine, which is expected to offer broader international academic and research opportunities for students and faculty from both universities.

22nd November 2024, The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), was pleased to officially welcome Prof. Dr. Budi Aji, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED), Indonesia, along with his delegation.

The purpose of this visit was to discuss potential academic collaborations in areas such as curriculum sharing, joint research, and community service programmes.

The visit was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syahrul Sazliyana Shaharir, Assistant Dean (Clinical Services), who expressed hope that this collaboration would strengthen academic relations and enhance the fields of education and healthcare at both universities.

It is hoped that this visit will open up more opportunities for both parties to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the well-being of the community.

Also present were Dr. Jalina A. Karim, Head of the Department of Nursing, as well as lecturers and staff from the Department of Nursing.

 

14th November 2024 – The Faculty of Medicine, UKM, received a delegation from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Indonesia, , led by Dr. Fika Ekayanti, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at UIN. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential collaborations in research and academia, particularly in the field of Islamic medicine.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Deputy Dean of UKM, stated that this collaboration presents an excellent opportunity to foster a cross-border research culture and enrich teaching and research at both universities.

Also present were Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, along with Assistant Deans and Heads of Departments from UKM. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the ties between UKM and UIN and bring a positive impact to the fields of Islamic medicine and health sciences.

 

9th November 2024 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) conducted a courtesy visit to the UKM Faculty of Medicine as a gesture of appreciation. The visit aimed to establish collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine in various areas, including research, teaching and learning, as well as community service. It is hoped that this partnership will strengthen ties between the two institutions and enhance international excellence.

The delegation from UNIMUS included Dr. Wahyu Budi (Dean), Dr. Merry Tiyas (Vice Dean I), Dr. Aisyah Lahdji (Vice Dean II), Dr. Yanuarita (Head of Undergraduate Program), and Dr. Afiana (Liaison Officer).

The UKM Faculty of Medicine was represented by Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail (Assistant Dean for Teaching & Curriculum), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar (Assistant Dean for Clinical Services), Assoc. 8th November 2024– The Faculty of Medicine received a visit from Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS), Indonesia. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. dr. Haerani Rasyid, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UNHAS.

Through this visit, the collaboration between both universities in the fields of research and academia will continue to be strengthened. Both parties are also committed to refining the activities under the existing Memorandum of Understanding.

The visit was chaired by Prof. Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate), who expressed her gratitude for the longstanding collaboration and hoped that this partnership would open more opportunities for the advancement of knowledge and innovation.

9 to 10 October 2024 – The Faculty of Medicine, UKM, welcomed a delegation from Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA). UNISMA has established a strong collaboration with UKM, including support for annual activities such as the Medical Undergraduate’s Annual Scientific Research Meeting (MUASRM). The UNISMA delegation comprised the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and five lecturers, who attended MUASRM and visited various pre-clinical departments to explore potential research collaborations and student exchange opportunities.

On 9 October, the UNISMA delegation visited the Department of Anatomy, including the research laboratory, dissection hall, plastination lab, and the Anatomy Museum. They also toured the Department of Medical Education, particularly the clinical skills lab, and observed the Year 1 Personal & Professional Advancement (PPA) Camp. On 10 October, they participated in the MUASRM opening ceremony and attended student presentations from UNISMA.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Departments of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Parasitology & Medical Entomology. During the MUASRM closing ceremony, three teams from UNISMA were awarded Best Presentation in the invited university category.

8 and 10 October 2024– The Faculty of Medicine, UKM, received a delegation from Singapore Polytechnic (SP). The delegation, which included Ms. Yulia Yomono, Course Management Head; Dr. Sim Guek En, Lecturer; and 22 Diploma in Biomedical Science students, visited to explore university study options, entry requirements, career opportunities, and potential future research collaborations.

Associate Professor Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Deputy Dean of Networking, Industry and Community Engagement, who led the visit, encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunity to gain exposure to the field of Medicine, in hopes of sparking their interest in the discipline.

On 10 October 2024, the delegation was taken on a tour of several facilities at UKM, including the Department of Radiology, the Children’s Specialist Hospital, the Anatomy Museum, Simulation Labs, and the Biobank at the UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI). Also present during the visit were Professor Dr. Norazlina Mohamed, Assistant Dean (Quality & Strategy), and Associate Professor Dr. Syahrul Sazliyana, Assistant Dean (Clinical Services).

  11th September 2024– The Faculty of Medicine received a visit from the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), College of Medicine and Hospital . The delegation from NCKU was led by Professor Dar-Bin Shieh, Professor at the School of Dentistry. The discussion focused on student exchange, sharing of medical technologies, and artificial intelligence technologies.

In addition, NCKU expressed interest in establishing collaboration and partnerships in research. The delegation was also taken on a tour of the Neurology and Cardiology Units at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM). Professor Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that there are ample opportunities for collaboration between NCKU and UKM.

Other attendees included Associate Professor Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, Deputy Dean of Networking, Industry and Community Engagement; Professor Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies; Assistant Deans; Dr. Lydia Kamarulzaman, Head of the Doctor of Medicine Programme; and Dr. Jalina Karim, Head of the Department of Nursing.

7th August 2024– The Faculty of Medicine received a courtesy visit from the Faculty of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, led by Professor Zhou Huifang along with 18 medical students. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Othmaliza Othman, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, and was briefed about the faculty and the department. .

Following the briefing, the delegation was taken on a tour of several facilities, including UMBI, HPKK, the Department of Radiology, and the Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (DTERM). Some of the students also attended a short class conducted by Dr. Yong Meng Hsein and Dr. Cheng Teck Chee from the Department of Ophthalmology.

Before concluding the visit, the delegation received a briefing by Associate Professor Dr. Wan Haslina Wan Abdul Halim on the research activities conducted by the department. They also visited the Ophthalmology Clinic on Level 1, HCTM, where they were given an overview of the services and facilities available at the clinic.

4th July 2024–  The Faculty of Medicine and HCTM received a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), led by Professor Dr. Shahril Yusof and Professor Datuk Dr. D. Kamarudin D. Mudin. Professor Dr. Shahril Yusof shared that the Universiti Malaysia Sabah Hospital is expected to be completed next year and expressed the need for collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and HCTM to realize the project.

Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak welcomed the initiative and proposed the establishment of a memorandum of understanding between the two universities. Discussions also focused on collaboration in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, research, postgraduate training, and subspecialty programs. Professor Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim emphasized that this partnership would benefit both universities and the nation.

Also present during the meeting were Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of HCTM, as well as several academic and administrative staff from the Faculty of Medicine and HCTM.

11th June 2024– The Faculty of Medicine received a visit from Yishun Health Singapore (YHS).The YHS delegation was led by Ms. Dorcas Chng, Senior Manager of Human Resources. Among the key topics discussed were career pathways for graduates of the Doctor of Medicine program, student attachments, and subspecialty training opportunities at Yishun Health Singapore.

Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, Deputy Dean (Undergraduate), Faculty of Medicine, expressed that there is potential for a future collaboration agreement between Yishun Health Singapore and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Other representatives present during the visit included Lt. Col.                 23rd May 2024– The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), also received a visit from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).The PolyU delegation was led by Dr. Stephen Chan, Principal Research Fellow and Founding Head of the Service-Learning Office, along with Dr. Perry Lee, Service-Learning Manager of PolyU.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaborations in the field of teaching and learning, particularly in relation to service-learning, which emphasizes community service activities as part of students’ international learning experiences. The discussion was chaired by Dr. Mohamad Arif Kamarudin, Head of the Department of Medical Education.

Also present during the visit were Professor Dr. Norazlina Mohamed, Assistant Dean (Quality & Strategy), Dr. Jalina Karim, Head of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Nor Haty Hassan, Deputy Head of Department, and Dr. Mohamad Nurman Yaman, Coordinator of the Department of Medical Education. The Faculty of Medicine UKM warmly welcomed this visit and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both institutions.

     

                             23rd May 2024 -The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), received a delegation from Mega Buana Palopo University (UMBP), Indonesia. The delegation was led by Ms. Yuniar Dwi Yanti, Dean of the Faculty of Health UMBP, along with 31 students comprising Master’s in Public Health and Bachelor’s in Midwifery students from UMBP.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaborations in the fields of midwifery and community health, including opportunities for student and expertise exchange programmes. The delegation was also taken on a tour of the Department of Nursing Laboratory to observe the learning processes conducted there. Both parties agreed to further discuss the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UKM and UMBP in the future.

The visit was chaired by Dr. Jalina Karim, Head of the Department of Nursing, representing the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Also present to enliven the visit were Professor Dr. Rozita Hod and Professor Dr. Azmawati Mohammed Nawi from the Department of Public Health Medicine.

       20th May 2024- The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), received a delegation from Chongqing College of Science and Creation (CCSC), China, led by Mr. He Xian, Executive Director, along with a delegation from Northern Kuala Lumpur International College (NKL) led by Ms. Pua Chee Ling, Director of NKL.

The discussion focused on the admission requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, to facilitate CCSC graduates in pursuing their studies at the university. Professor Datin Dr. Norlinah Mohamed Ibrahim, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies, expressed the faculty’s readiness to establish academic collaboration.

Following the discussion session, the delegates were taken on a tour of the Anatomy Museum at the Faculty of Medicine. Also present were Associate Professor Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Helmy Mokhtar, and Dr. Mohamad Arif Kamarudin.

      10th May 2024- The Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received an educational visit from the teachers and students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Megat Panji Alam, Kuala Terengganu. The visit aimed to provide early exposure to the field of medicine and offer students a glimpse into the learning environment at a higher education institution.

The visit was led by the Department of Parasitology & Medical Entomology and coordinated by Dr. Syamsa Rizal, the Head of Department. Several other departments also participated in the programme, including the Department of Medical Education and the Department of Anatomy. A variety of engaging activities were arranged to provide a meaningful experience for the students, including briefing sessions, laboratory tours, and medical-related demonstrations.

Overall, the visit proceeded smoothly and successfully achieved its objectives. It is hoped that such programmes will inspire students to pursue their studies in the field of medicine, particularly at UKM.

25th April 2024- The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received a benchmarking visit from the Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).The objective of the visit was for IIUM to gain insights and learn more about the grading system (PNGS/PNGK) used in UKM’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme, in line with the review of IIUM’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) curriculum.

The visit was led by Professor Dr. Mohd Aznan Bin Md. Aris, Deputy Dean (Academic & Internationalisation) of IIUM. The agenda included a presentation on the UKM Doctor of Medicine curriculum by Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, Deputy Dean (Undergraduate), as well as a tour of various facilities such as the Dissection Hall Laboratory, Simulation Laboratory, Anatomy & Pathology Museum, and AktivUKM Learning Space at the Faculty of Medicine. 

It is hoped that this visit will further strengthen strategic ties and collaborative efforts between public universities in the future.

  22nd February 2024-  The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), received a courtesy visit from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Udayana (UNUD), Indonesia. The delegation expressed interest in establishing collaborations in the areas of research, teaching, and community-based programs. Proposed initiatives included the co-authoring of scholarly articles for the faculty’s journal (indexed in ESCI), as well as collaborations with pre-clinical departments such as Biochemistry and Physiology. Additionally, there were discussions on potential joint research in herbal products and natural medicine.

The UKM faculty management representatives present at the meeting were Prof. Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki (Deputy Dean of Industry & Community Network Affairs), Prof. Dr. Norazlina Mohamed (Assistant Dean of Quality & Strategy), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Helmy Mokhtar (Assistant Dean of Entrepreneurship & Creativity). Department representatives in attendance included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizah Mohd Zaki (Head of the Department of Radiology), Prof. Dr. Hamzaini Abdul Hamid (Deputy Head of the Department of Radiology), and Dr. Mohd Syahrir Yusof (Head of the Department of Molecular Imaging & Nuclear Medicine).

The UNUD delegation was led by Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya (Vice Dean of Academic and Planning Affairs), Dr. dr. Ida Ayu Ika Wahyuniari (Head of the Collaboration Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Udayana), Dr. dr. Elysanti Dwi Martadiani (Coordinator of the Radiology Specialist Program), and Dr. Made Widhi Asih (Lecturer, Department of Radiology). This visit marked the beginning of closer collaboration between both institutions.

              29th January 2024– A delegation from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Pertahanan Indonesia (UPI), visited the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on . The meeting successfully reached an agreement to sign a Letter of Intent (LoI) in the near future, encompassing areas such as student mobility, guest lectures, postgraduate studies, and community engagement activities.

Present at the meeting was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, along with members of the faculty’s management team, including Deputy Deans and Assistant Deans.

The UPI delegation was led by Major General Dr. dr. Prihati Pujowaskito along with senior officials, while other attendees included Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Abu Hassan Asaari Abdullah from the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), as well as two lecturers from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

12th December 2023 -The visit from  to the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, was a great success. The delegation from the university was led by Professor Chia-Ching Chang from the Department of Biological Science and Technology. Also present were Professor Eric Hwang, Director of the College of Biological Science and Technology, Associate Professor Guan-Yuh Chiao, Associate Professor Meng-Shiue Lee, and Dr. Hao-Syun Chou as representatives.

Discussions between both parties covered research directions in the fields of biomedical science and bioengineering, which have long been key strengths of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. The Faculty of Medicine, UKM, also expressed interest in further exploring the field of artificial intelligence.

In his speech, Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, emphasized that science and technology are inseparable aspects of the medical field, and expressed hope that this collaboration will continue to progress smoothly.

6th October 2023- The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) welcomed a courtesy visit from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Mataram, Indonesia. The visiting delegation comprised Professor Dr. dr. Hamsu Kadriyan, Dr. Ima Arum Lestarini, Dr. Emmy Amalia, Apt. Nisa Isneni Hanifa, Dr. dr. Yoga Pamungkas Susani, and Dr. Arina Windri Rivarti.

The meeting was chaired by Professor Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, representing the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. She was joined by Dr. Lydia Kamaruzaman and Dr. Mohd Hafidzul Jasman. The discussions were cordial and focused on strengthening academic ties between both institutions.

Key areas of discussion included the potential for students from Universitas Mataram to pursue doctoral studies at UKM, opportunities for joint research, invited guest lectures, and wider academic cooperation. Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations and a shared commitment to advancing medical education and research.

8th May 2023The UKM Faculty of Medicine received a courtesy visit from a delegation from MARKAZ Knowledge City, Calicut, Kerala, India. The delegation was present to engage in discussions with the Faculty of Medicine’s administration regarding potential future collaborations.

The delegation was welcomed by Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, along with Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Datin Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Deputy Dean of HEJIM, and other faculty management members. The discussion explored various potential collaborations such as student, expert and lecturer exchanges, joint research projects, and other academic and research-related opportunities.

The MARKAZ Knowledge City delegation was led by Er. Hameed Kanhirakkandy, CEO of JDT Islam Group of Educational Institutions. Also in attendance were Dr. Abdul Salam Mohammed, CEO of MARKAZ Knowledge City; Dr. Abdul Rahiman Chalil, Managing Director of Digital Bridge International; and Dr. Ibrahim Afzal, Assistant Director of JDTI Pharmacy College.

22nd December 2022 – The Faculty of Medicine received a visit from the Indonesia Medical Council (IMC). The nine-member delegation was led by Dr. Putu Moda Arsana, Chairman of the Indonesia Medical Council, and was welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, Deputy Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of the UKM Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Zairul Azwan Mohd Azman, Deputy Director (Medical Services) of Hospital Canselor Tunku Muhriz.

The visit was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Damanhuri, Coordinator of the International Relations Unit, Faculty of Medicine, UKM. A key focus of the visit was a discussion on medical regulations and the learning system at UKM, aimed at providing the IMC with valuable input for improving its regulatory framework in Indonesia.

The IMC expressed sincere gratitude for the knowledge sharing and fruitful discussions. The Faculty of Medicine also looks forward to future collaborations with the IMC.

16th November 2022- The Faculty of Medicine received a visit from Universitas Airlangga. The Opening Ceremony, officiated by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Gafor, was held in the Meeting Room, Level 2, Annex Building, Faculty of Medicine.

The visit aimed to strengthen ties and establish future collaboration between the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine UKM and the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga.

It is believed that this collaboration will enhance the quality and competitiveness of the nursing field at both universities. The event was also attended by the delegation from Universitas Airlangga, led by Professor Dr. Ah Yusuf S, along with Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Medicine.

20th September 2022-The Faculty of Medicine, UKM received a courtesy visit from SIMAD University, Somalia at the Teleconference Room. The visit was led by Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, and was attended by faculty management members.

The delegation from SIMAD University was led by Dr. Dahir Hassan Abdi, Rector, accompanied by Mr. Abdikarim Mohaidin Ahmed, Director for International Cooperation. For the record, UKM previously had a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SIMAD University under the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, from 2016 to 2019.

The visit focused on discussing potential collaboration opportunities, particularly in enabling SIMAD students and lecturers to further their studies at UKM’s Faculty of Medicine. Discussions also included the academic programme structure at the faculty, which could serve as a reference for SIMAD University in developing its own medical education framework.

16th September 2022 –The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), today welcomed a courtesy visit from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Medan, Indonesia. The delegation was led by Associate Professor Rudianto, Vice Rector III of UMSU, and was also joined by Professor Dato’ Dr. Norazah Mohd Nordin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Partnerships) of UKM. As a university that has recently marked its 13th year, UMSU expressed a keen interest in gaining insights and learning from a more established institution like UKM, which inspired the purpose of this visit.

During the meeting, three main areas of potential collaboration were proposed. First, in the field of research, through partnerships involving the sharing of existing laboratory technologies at UKM and the undertaking of joint research projects. Second, in academic development, by offering specialised training programmes aimed at enhancing the skills and expertise of medical lecturers at UMSU. Third, in student development, by exploring the establishment of fellowship opportunities and student exchange programmes.

To conclude the visit, the delegation was given a tour of the ENT Clinic and the Cardiology Unit within the Department of Medicine.

5th September 2022 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received a visit from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Indonesia. The visit involved three representatives from the Department of Radiology, Universitas Brawijaya, led by Professor Dr. dr. Yuyun Yueniwati Prabowowati Wadjib. The meeting took place at the Recreation Room Conference Hall, Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital, UKM Children’s Specialist Hospital (HPKK), followed by a tour of the paediatric wards.

This visit was a result of ongoing collaboration between UKM and Universitas Brawijaya, particularly in the areas of student exchange and academic expertise sharing.

As part of this collaboration, Universitas Brawijaya has also placed a student at UKM’s Faculty of Medicine for a one-month attachment. It is hoped that the student will return to UB with new knowledge and valuable experiences to share.

15th August 2022 – A delegation of four senior management representatives from Shiga University of Medical Science (SUMS) visited the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for three days beginning , to discuss a proposed dual degree PhD programme in the field of Ageing Science. The delegation was led by Professor Ikuo Tooyama, Vice President and Director of SUMS, and included Professor Yasutoshi Agata, Deputy Director (International Strategy), Professor Yutaka Kato, Deputy Head of the International Centre, and Mr. Koji Sukegawa, Senior Manager of the International Planning Office.

The meeting began with a welcoming address by Professor Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Deputy Dean (Networking and Alumni), representing the Faculty of Medicine UKM, and was also attended by Professor Dato’ Dr. Razman Jarmin, Director of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. The delegates were then given a tour of the neurology lab, stroke ward, and the Centre for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (CTERM). Before the lunch break, a discussion session was held on the framework for the proposed PhD programme, led by Professor Dr. Mohamad Nasir Shafiee, who was serving as the Acting Deputy Dean (Postgraduate Studies).

In the afternoon, Professor Tooyama and Professor Agata agreed to deliver a seminar titled “Ageing and Degenerative Disease.”

4th August 2022– The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received a visit from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar, Indonesia. The meeting took place in the Boardroom of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM). A total of eight representatives from Universitas Hasanuddin attended, led by Professor Haerani Rasyid.

The visit began with a welcoming address from the UKM Faculty of Medicine, represented by Dean Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor, and joined by Professor Dr. Marina Mat Baki, Deputy Dean (Networking and Alumni).

The main objective of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities in education, research, and community service between the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Hasanuddin, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
