Research Visit – Sichuan, China

Our research group recently had the privilege of visiting Sichuan Polytechnic University (SPU) in China on 18th September 2025, marking an important step in strengthening our ongoing academic and research collaborations. The visit was made even more special as our Principal Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab, was invited as a Visiting Researcher at SPU.

The visit also coincided with our PhD candidate, Mr. Yang Mingxiao, who is currently pursuing his doctoral research under our joint supervision. This provided a valuable opportunity for us to engage directly with him and discuss the progress of his research work within the vibrant academic environment of SPU.

During our stay, we had the honour of meeting with Dean Zhang from the Faculty of Material Engineering, as well as Director Xu from the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation. Both meetings were insightful and productive, allowing us to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations in areas of mutual interest—particularly in advanced materials, sustainable technologies, and interdisciplinary innovation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab also shared perspectives on current research directions within our institution and discussed opportunities for joint projects, student exchanges, and academic networking. The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment between both institutions to foster international research partnerships and knowledge exchange.

Beyond formal meetings, the visit also allowed us to experience the rich culture and hospitality of Sichuan. From the dynamic academic atmosphere to the warmth of our hosts, every moment of the trip reinforced the value of international collaboration—not only in advancing science but also in building bridges between people and institutions.

Our team extends sincere appreciation to Sichuan Polytechnic University, especially to Dean Zhang, Director Xu, and the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, for their generosity and support throughout the visit. We look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership and achieving impactful outcomes together.
