Keynote MPI 2025

On 15th May 2025, in conjunction with Research & Innovation Week 2025, a valuable sharing session titled “Experience Sharing on Innovation Fund Application” was successfully held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu. The session was delivered by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

This Bicara Tokoh Lecture aimed to provide attendees with real-world insights into the process of applying for innovation funding under the Malaysia Grand Challenge initiative by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). Participants were exposed to effective strategies and important guidelines for preparing strong innovation funding proposals. The session explored critical evaluation criteria, including the originality of the idea, Technology Readiness Level (TRL), market competitiveness, and alignment with the national 10-10 MySTIE framework.

The session also covered the technical aspects of submitting applications via the eDana platform, the types of required supporting documents, and essential components in developing a compelling marketing plan, such as SWOT analysis, target market identification, and projected Return on Investment (ROI). A key highlight of the event was the sharing of a successful case study, detailing the journey of a research project transitioning from TED 1 to TED 2 phase, offering practical insights and inspiration to aspiring applicants. This session served not only as a practical guide for future innovation fund applicants but also as a motivational roadmap for navigating the innovation funding landscape in Malaysia.
