UKM 46th Convocation
The 46th Convocation of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) reached a high note on November 11, 2018, as the university celebrated the achievements of its graduates in the prestigious Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR). Among those receiving their scrolls was our esteemed team member, Jude Santanaraj A/L Dulasidas, whose graduation marked the formal completion of his Master of Science (Chemical & Process Engineering). The atmosphere at DECTAR was one of immense pride and scholarly achievement, as the 46th convocation saw over 7,000 graduates honored for their resilience and academic contributions to Malaysia’s premier national university.
Jude’s convocation followed his successful viva voce defense on March 9, 2018, where he demonstrated exceptional mastery of his specialized field. His research, titled “Penyingkiran Perencat Berpotensi Dalam Biopenukaran Lignolelulosa Menggunakan Teknik Pengoksidaan Fenton dan Penjerapan,” represents a vital contribution to sustainable energy. By investigating innovative methods to remove inhibitors in the bioconversion of plant waste (lignocellulose), Jude’s work has provided new insights into making biofuels more efficient and accessible. This milestone is a testament to his dedication to green technology and process optimization, qualities that have made him an invaluable asset to our team.
The success of his Master’s journey was also a significant moment for his supervisor, Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab, whose mentorship guided Jude through the complexities of Fenton oxidation and adsorption techniques. Walking across the stage during the 46th Convocation, Jude joined an elite group of researchers dedicated to solving real-world environmental challenges through engineering. We are thrilled to celebrate this achievement with him, as his transition from a master’s candidate to a post-graduate alumnus reflects the spirit of innovation and perseverance that defines his professional character. Congratulations, Jude, on your well-deserved graduation!
