Introduction

Foreword From Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation)

Welcome to the  Secretariat of Research & Innovation, Faculty of Medicine UKM website.

Research is the main agenda of the Faculty of Medicine Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in line with the role of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) as one of the five Research Universities in Malaysia. The responsibility of the office of the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) is to manage research activities in the Faculty of Medicine with the primary goal of improving the quality and quantity of research.

The main branch of the Deputy Dean’s Office (Research & Innovation) is the Secretariat of Research & Innovation (SPI) located on the 2nd Floor, Education Block, UKM Medical Center. The main task of SPI is to assist researchers in applying for grants such as grants from the Faculty of Medicine, research grants under the Research University Fund as well as external grants such as from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (KSTI) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

Apart from research, SPI’s other main task is to assist in improving the quality and quantity of publications at the UKM Faculty of Medicine. SPI assists lecturers in publishing articles and books, also provide financial assistance for publishing and editing. SPI  manages the journal Medicine and Health which is the official journal of the Faculty of Medicine. SPI provides writing clinics, talks and workshops on various aspects of research and publications to educate and assist researchers in the faculty. SPI is also a channel between the Faculty of Medicine and the Center for Research & Instrumentation Management (CRIM), UKM in facilitating the communication process between researchers and universities.

In addition, the office of the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) is also involved in certain activities involving research and innovation in faculty and universities, such as Medical Research Week and Good Clinical Practice Workshop.
Since 2017, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has been consistently listed as the top three universities in Malaysia, in the “QS World University Ranking 2020”. We warmly welcome talented and ambitious individuals to further their studies and research at the Faculty of Medicine, UKM.

Finally, I really hope this portal will be a source of information on the latest research affairs at the Faculty of Medicine.
