The APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education (“ASPIRE”) is an annual award which recognises young scientists who have demonstrated a commitment to both excellence in scientific research, as evidenced by scholarly publication, and cooperation with scientists from other APEC member economies, including inclusive and interdisciplinary collaborations.

The nomination theme for ASPIRE 2023 is “Inclusive Science, Technology and Innovation for a Resilient and Sustainable Environment”. This theme focuses on advancing environmental resiliency and sustainability through science, technology, and innovation that centres on diverse perspectives and promotes an inclusive scientific ecosystem. Unlocking the diversity of thought and experience can expand the boundaries of scientific knowledge, which is vital to fundamental research and underpins resilient and sustainable solutions to global environmental and societal challenges.

Concerning this, we are pleased to announce that the applications for ASPIRE 2023 are now open. If you are an eligible candidate, we would like to invite you to apply for ASPIRE 2023. The application details are as follows:

 ELIGIBILITY

1. Any citizen of an APEC member economy.
2. Under 40 years old as of 31 December of that year (i.e., all 2023 nominees must be under 40 years old as of 31 December 2023).
   
   

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IN PDF FORMAT:

1. Local Nomination form (Download the form provided).
2. Nominee’s curriculum vitae.
3. One(1) recommendation letter to support your nomination.
4. A photo of the nominee (image must be larger than 250*300 pixels) *JPEG format.

To apply for the programme, please visit ASM’s website https://www.akademisains.gov.my/aspire-2023/ and fill out the local nomination form. In addition, you will be required to upload the following documents in PDF format.
