Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) have been recognised as one of the main drivers of economic development and environmental sustainability. STI plays an even more important role in the context of the \u201cGlobal Agenda – 2030\u201d and for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

STI is an important driver for increased productivity and value addition that stimulates the growth and competitiveness of a nation. Application of STI is necessary for enabling and accelerating the global transformation towards prosperous, inclusive and environmentally sustainable economies in developing and developed countries alike. For effective implementation of most of the 17 SDGs and achieving their set targets, it is necessary that STI\u00a0has to be directly and indirectly applied with appropriate focus, especially in the Emerging Economies (EE), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In order to deliberate on the role of STI in achieving SDGs and to discuss the dynamics\u00a0of the STI system, the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre), New Delhi and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), Mauritius is jointly organising of a 2-days International Workshop on the topic\u00a0\u201cRole of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals \u2013 2030\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0during\u00a024 – 25 May, 2022.<\/b>\u00a0The Workshop will be hosted by the IORA Secretariat and organised in\u00a0Virtual-Mode.<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

The Workshop will facilitate exchange of information and expertise on \u201cApplication of STI for Sustainable Development in IORA and NAM S&T Centre Member Countries\u201d.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

(<\/span>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Last date for submission of applications to attend the Workshop is\u00a0May 16, 2022<\/u>.\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>

(<\/span>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applications for participation in the Workshop\u00a0may please be submitted to the Director General, NAM S&T Centre at\u00a0e-mail:\u00a0namstcentre@gmail.com<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in the application form\u00a0enclosed<\/u><\/b>\u00a0with the\u00a0attached announcement brochure.<\/u><\/u><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>

ii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An\u00a0Opinion<\/b>\u00a0(a short paragraph;\u00a0in MS-Word<\/b>\u00a0only) on what qualifies you to participate in the Workshop<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A\u00a0Short CV<\/b>\u00a0(maximum two pages in the format enclosed; in\u00a0MS- Word<\/b>\u00a0only)<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

iv. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An\u00a0Extended Abstract<\/b>\u00a0(in\u00a0MS-Word<\/b>\u00a0only)of the Paper that would be presented by you at the Workshop (about 1-1 \u00bd pages)<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>

(c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Selection of applicants will be made based on their academic and professional background, and relevance of their current engagements in the relevant field.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>

(<\/span>d)\u00a0\u00a0 There is\u00a0no registration fee<\/u><\/i><\/b>\u00a0for the participants from the Member Countries and S&T-Industry Network Member Agencies of the NAM S&T Centre\u00a0provided the application is endorsed by the Focal Point of the NAM S&T Centre in their respective country \/ organization.\u00a0However, since the Workshop will be organized in Virtual-Mode and no International travel is required, scientists and experts from any other country are welcome to participate and present their papers in the Workshop.<\/i><\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>
