CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP IN ADOLESCENT PUBLIC HEALTH
The Clinical Fellowship in Adolescent Public Health at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is designed to provide advanced training for healthcare professionals in public health approaches, research, and strategic planning, with a focus on the adolescent age group. This fellowship combines practical public health experience with academic learning and research, preparing fellows to take on leadership roles in public health programs, policy development, and community-based intervention programs.

- Applicant must have a Certified Public Health Physician OR have completed recognised public health specialist training (for overseas candidates) with a strong interest in Adoelscent.
- Malaysian candidates: Applicants who have completed an attachment or rotation in facilities managing core areas of family health are highly encouraged and will be prioritised.
- Non-Malaysian candidates: Applicants with at least 3 years of working experience managing adolescent-related clinical or public health programs after specialist training.
- Required to submit a current curriculum vitae (CV) including two referees.
- Required to submit a letter of standing or support from the current employer or institution for the program application.
By the end of the program, the candidate should be able to:
- Assess population health needs related to adolescents and contribute to developing and implementing multidisciplinary promotional and intervention programs.
- Design and execute programs that meet international standards, promote equitable public health policies, and use appropriate technologies for adolescent risk-taking behaviour prevention and management.
- Apply evidence-based decision-making, critical thinking, and lifelong learning in family health practice.
- Demonstrate effective communication, professionalism, leadership, and cultural sensitivity in public health.
- Plan and evaluate a participatory action research project focused on priority interventions for adolescents, collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals and relevant agencies.
- Actively participate in supervision training, scientific seminar discussions, and journal appraisals within the department.
- Monitor and evaluate the intervention program using population health outcomes as key indicators related to SDGs targeting on adolescents.
- Record all fellowship-related activities and experiences in a student-led customised logbook.
- Schedule regular meetings with the assigned supervisor throughout the fellowship program for ongoing progress monitoring and feedback.
- Publish at least one technical report/ policy paper, or research article accepted in a Web of Science (WOS)-indexed journal.
A certificate of completion of training, certified by the Course Director and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, will be awarded to all successful candidates.
- Applicants are required to submit a current CV with two named referees.
- Applicants are also required to submit a good standing letter from the employer/institution, for the program application.
- Applications must be submitted at least six months from the intended start date.
- Overseas candidates (non-Malaysian) are required to apply for a Temporary Practising Certificate by the Malaysian Medical Council at their own cost.
