FELLOWSHIP IN VASCULAR SURGERY (UKM)

UKM Medical Centre/ Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Cheras 56000 Kuala Lumpur

Postgraduate degree equivalent to Master's of General Surgery /  a certified General Surgeon with interest in vascular surgery.

  1. To learn and demonstrate clinical decision making in vascular surgery.
  2. To be able to perform common vascular surgery independently.
  3. To demonstrate maturity in the decision making, encompassing patients outcome and resources availability
  4. To learn the basic of endovascular surgery
  5.  
  1. Candidate will be required to perform all clinical activities at the level of a specialist.
  2. Candidate must assist all vascular cases performed either as elective or emergency.
  3. Candidate must assist or observe endovascular cases performed. (They will be working together with the interventional radiology).
  4. Candidate must be able to perform diagnostic peripheral angiogram
  5. Candidate must keep a log book and an audit of his/her performance.
  6. Candidate is required to participate in all clinical and academic activities of the unit and department.
  7. Candidate will be monitored and assessed by supervisors on regular basis.

Certificate of completion of training certified by Course Director and Dean, Faculty of Medicine UKM will be given to all successful candidates.

DEFINITION

Credentialing: a process to set the standards and to do an evaluation for a person’s qualification in a field or procedure. It is recognition for the professional training done by a medical practitioner.

Privileges: the rights given by the hospital for a medical practitioner to give treatments or to do procedures on hospital patients based on the qualifications of the training, and the medical practitioner’s experience and expertise.
