Biodata Keynote Speakers

F_Tangang Prof. Dr. Fredolin currently serves as the IPCC Working Group I Vice-Chair representing Region V of the World Meteorological Organization that encompasses countries in the south-west Pacific that includes Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and all smaller island nations in this region. He was elected to IPCC in 2008 and was the first Malaysian to serve as WG VC. Prof. Fredolin is also a professor in climatology and oceanography at the School of Environmental and Natural Resources, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia) that he has served UKM for 27 years. He is also a fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia since 2011. Prof. Fredolin’s research interest includes regional climate variability and climate change and oceanography where he has published numerous scientific papers in local and international journals. Prof. Fredolin obtained a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada where he developed a model to forecast the El Niño – Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon.


Prof. Drs. Koentjoro SoeparnoProf. Drs. Koentjoro Soeparno is a lecturer at Faculty of Psychology in Universitas Gadjah Mada. Born in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on February 27th, 1955, he received his degree education in Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta and went to pursue his masters in Behavior Science at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. From the same university, he finally earned his PhD in Social Work and Social Policy. He is the founder of Asosiasi Psikologi Hukum dan Forensik (Apsifor) and the main member of Ikatan Psikologi Sosial (IPS). He is also a member of Majelis Psikologi, HIMPSI Pusat as well as a member of APA. Throughout his career, he has published several papers with titles such as Prostitution in Indonesia, Tutur dari Sarang Pelacur and Global Perspectives on Prostitution and Sex Trafficking. For STACLIM 2014 conference, he will be giving a talk on 'Social, Climate Change and its Impact on Human Behavior'.


I Gusti Ngurah Kade Mahardika Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Kade Mahardika a in Germany educated molecular virologist and microbiologist. He is the head of The Animal Biomedical and Molecular Biology Laboratory at Udayana University and The Indonesian Biodiversity Research Centre, Udayana University Centre of Excellence. He conducts intensive studies on various viruses and molecular ecology of animal and microbes. He proofed that multi-strain approach of bird flu viruses in the vaccine performed best to control bird flu in Indonesia. His idea is now applied by various companies to produce cocktail bird flu vaccine that is marketed Indonesian-wide. The tentative talk of his interest will be “Climate Change: A step ahead of the emergence of new pathogens”.



wayan Wayan Suparta received his Diploma and BSc degrees in Physics from the Universitas Sanata Dharma (USD), Yogyakarta, and MSc degree in Semiconductor electronics (Physics) from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. He received his PhD in Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering (major in Communication Engineering), Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). After post doctorate studies at the Institute of Space Science (ANGKASA), UKM, on remote sensing of polar atmospheric using GPS, he appointed as a senior lecturer at ANGKASA and currently working as an associate professor at the Space Science Centre (ANGKASA), Institute of Climate Change, UKM. He has more than 15 years experience in university teaching and research development. His research interest includes satellite remote sensing application for space weather and climate studies, natural disasters, solar terrestrial physics, modeling of satellite disturbances and near field communication (NFC) technology. He has more than 50 publications and supervised Masters and PhD students, mostly on aspects related to the GPS Meteorology applications. He is a member of the National Antarctic Program in Malaysian Antarctic Research Programme (MARP), International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and senior members of Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES). For STACLIM 2014, he will give a talk entitled “Application of GNSS remote sensing for climate change studies”.
