The Sustainability Challenge 2025, the sixth series of this prestigious competition, is set to take place on December 8, 2025, organized by the Research Centre for Sustainable Process Technology (CESPRO). This event is aimed at exploring and developing innovative ideas in sustainability, building upon the success of previous competitions held on November 18, 2015, November 29, 2017, December 12, 2019, and most recently, December 16, 2021 and 23 November 2023 by CESPRO UKM and the UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainability.
This year, Sustainability Challenge, themed “ Advancing Towards Decarbonization for Sustainable Future,” will be open to applicants from higher educational institutions and professionals, either individually or as a team. The competition will consist of two main categories, and during the preliminary stage, participants will need to submit a 3-page extended abstract, which includes an introduction, problem statement, method, results/outcome, and references, as well as a poster.
The top finalists will have the opportunity to submit a 3-minute video and present their ideas in front of a Grand Jury on December 2, 2025, where they will need to deliver a final pitch. The top three winners and consolation winners in both the student and professional categories will receive cash prizes.

The competition aims:
