Penyelidikan dalam teknologi pengeringan suria telah dilakukan secara aktif di Institut Penyelidikan Tenaga Suria SERI dengan kerjasama industri. Hasil kerjasama ini telah menghasilkan tiga prototaip pengering suria. Pengering pertama adalah hasil kerjasama dengan syarikat TechCera Malaysia Sdn Bhd di Bidor, Perak. Pengeringan dilakukan terhadap tanah liat sericite mica yang mempunyai hasil komersial dalam sektor pembinaan dan industri kimpalan. Kerjasama dengan Lembaga Kenaf dan Tembakau Negara (LKTN) menghasilkan pengering suria kedua di Chuping Perlis. Pengering ini digunakan untuk serat kenaf Hibiscus Cannabinus L. Kedua-dua sistem ini mempunyai pengumpul suria jenis bendalir kerja air dan memindahkan haba melalui penukar haba serta menghasilkan udara panas untuk proses pengeringan. Pengering ketiga menggunakan pengumpul suria udara untuk produk herba bermutu tinggi seperti tongkat ali dan kacip fatimah dan dijalankan di Kampung Chendahan, Tasik Chini, Pahang. Kesemua pengeringan suria ini mempunyai nilai daya saing berbanding pengering bahan api fosil.
