The proposed research is not duplicative of research that has already been done.<\/p>\n<p>2. The alternatives to research using animals are not appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended sources are :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/entrez\/query.fcgi?\">PubMed &#8211; National Library of Medicine.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/agricola.nal.usda.gov\/\">National Agricultural Library<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">3Rs<\/span> in Animal Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Replacement<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; the use of non-animal methods to achieve the same ends<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Reduction<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; reducing the number of animals used to achieve the required results<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Refinement<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; enhancing animal welfare, minimising adverse effects, maximising the benefits of the research<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">General Guideline<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Whenever an animal\u2019s life is to be taken, the animal must be treated with the highest degree of respect.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0When performing euthanasia, the intention should be to make the animal\u2019s death as distress-free and painless as possible. Therefore, the method likely to cause the least distress and pain to the animal should be selected, consistent with the nature of the experimental protocol.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Euthanasia should result in rapid loss of consciousness, followed by respiratory and cardiac arrest and ultimate loss of all brain function.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Euthanasia should aim to minimize any pain and distress experienced by the animal prior to loss of consciousness. When appropriate, restraint should be used in such a manner that pain and distress associated with the entire process are minimized.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Methods used for euthanasia must be appropriate for the species, age and health status of the animal.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Death must be verified following euthanasia and prior to disposal of the animal.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Personnel responsible for carrying out the euthanasia must be trained to carry it out in the most effective and humane manner; recognize signs of pain and distress in relevant species; and recognize and confirm unconsciousness, and subsequently death, in relevant species.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Human psychological responses to euthanasia should be taken into consideration when selecting the method of euthanasia, but should not take precedence over animal welfare considerations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Reference &#8211;\u00a0http:\/\/www.ccac.ca\/Documents\/Standards\/Guidelines\/Euthanasia.pdf<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For those who is going to apply for ethical approval from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, please refer to this document:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukm.my\/ukmaec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/PRINSIP-DAN-GARIS-PANDUAN-ETIKA-PENGGUNAAN-HAIWAN-MAKMAL-2019.pdf\">PRINSIP DAN GARIS PANDUAN ETIKA PENGGUNAAN HAIWAN MAKMAL 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">GOOD NEWS!<\/span><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1.
