Biomechanics and Materials for Medical Applications Research Group is a research group under niche Technology Health and Medicine. It was founded in 2010. This group is currently led by Dr. Gan Kok Beng and the researchers are from Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology and Faculty of Health Sciences. Projects that conducted under this research group are the Pelvic BRIM Binder and Smart bag. Pelvic Binder BRIM has received prototype research grant scheme (PRGS) from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to commercialize this product. BRIM was filled for patent in the year 2011 and licensed to OSA Technology Sdn. Bhd. There are two main research focus; one in the rehabilitation devices for stroke patients in the community and second is the biomechanical modeling.
