Pitching Competition Instructions

Prepare a pitch presentation using the following structure to address:

“How could we design a digital classroom where medical students have instant access to personalized study tools, real-time clinical simulations, and seamless collaboration with peers and mentors?”

Pitching Preparation Format

1. Team formation

  • Form a team of 3-4 students
  • Create a catchy team name that reflects your idea or theme

2. Focus area (Choose ONE of the following)

Your proposed solution should address one of these areas:

  • Teaching and learning
  • Technology enhanced learning
  • Assessment and evaluation
  • Supervision and mentorship
  • Peer support and faculty development

3. Pitching requirements

  • Each team will have 7 minutes to pitch their idea
  • Followed by 3 minutes of Q&A from the judges or audience
  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to support your pitch.

Problem Statement:

“How can we leverage AI to create adaptive, immersive and clinically relevant educational tools that personalize learning, enhance diagnostic accuracy and support students and educator?

Potential Challenges of Shifting from Traditional to AI-Powered Medical Education:

1.Resistance to Change: The shift to AI-powered learning tools may face resistance from both educators and students who are comfortable with traditional approaches and skeptical about the effectiveness of new technologies.

2.Ensuring Real-World Application: AI and digital simulations may not be able to fully replicate the unpredictability and hands-on experience of real-life patient care.

3.Access and Equity Issues: AI-based learning platforms require reliable internet access, modern devices, and advanced infrastructure. Students in low-resource settings may be left behind, exacerbating existing inequalities in medical education and access to cutting-edge tools.

4.Data Privacy and Security: AI-driven education tools rely heavily on data, including students’ personal and academic information.

5.Cost and Resource Allocation: Developing, implementing, and maintaining AI-powered tools and simulations can be expensive. For many medical schools, the financial burden of integrating these technologies may be prohibitive, especially in institutions with limited resources.

Prepare a slide-presentation using the official template below: –

Slide 1: Introduction and Problem Statement

Objective: Set the stage by introducing the topic and identifying the challenges.

Content:

  • Briefly define AI in medical education (e.g., AI-powered study assistants, VR simulations, personalized learning platforms).
  • Introduce the transition from traditional methods (lectures, textbooks, clinical rotations) to AI-based learning.
  • Include evidence or examples to support the identified problems, including market need and competitive landscape.

Slide 2: Solution Innovation

Objective: Present your AI-powered solutions to the identified problems.

Content:

  • Identify the key challenges in this shift and propose innovative AI-driven solutions to solve them.
  • Discuss the feasibility, scalability, and potential impact of these solutions.
  • Outline a viable business model and strategy for commercialization.

Slide 3: Implementation Plan

Objective: Provide a clear and actionable plan for implementing the solutions.

Content:

  • Outline the steps needed to integrate AI-powered solutions into medical education, including:

o   Initial assessment and planning.

o   Selection and customization of AI tools.

o   Training faculty and students on AI use.

o   Continuous evaluation and improvement.

  • Identify key stakeholders (educators, IT specialists, AI developers, students) and their roles.
  • Discuss required resources such as funding, technology infrastructure, and support services.
  • Include financial planning, funding requirements, and potential ROI.

Slide 4: Impact and Benefits

Objective: Illustrate the positive outcomes of implementing digital classrooms in medical education.

Content:

  • Discuss how digital classrooms can enhance student performance by providing personalized learning experiences and up-to-date knowledge.
  • Explain the benefits for patient care and healthcare outcomes through better-prepared medical professionals.
  • Provide examples or case studies where AI has successfully improved medical education and practice.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative metrics to measure success.
  • Anticipate long-term implications and sustainability of the proposed interventions.

Slide 5: Conclusion and Call to Action

Objective: Summarize the presentation and motivate the audience to take action.

Content:

  • Recap the main points: the challenges in transitioning from traditional learning methods to AI- based learning, the potential of AI solutions, the implementation plan, and the expected impact.
