Community Service Visit to Pusat Jagaan Nur Hasanah

The Community Service Visit to Pusat Jagaan Nur Hasanah was successfully organized by the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, UKM, in collaboration with the UKM Women’s Club, on 23 April 2026 at Pusat Jagaan Nur Hasanah, Kampung Sesapan Kelubi, Beranang, Selangor. The programme formed part of the department’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

Established in 2006, Pusat Jagaan Nur Hasanah serves as a transit home for patients who have been discharged from hospitals but have no family members available to care for them. The centre also accommodates elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and converts to Islam who require support and care. Residents are referred to the centre by hospital Medical Social Work Departments and the Social Welfare Department.

The visit aimed to provide financial assistance and moral support to the residents while fostering compassion, empathy, and community spirit among participants. Activities conducted during the programme included the presentation of a cash donation to the centre’s management, distribution of duit raya to residents, light recreational activities, indoor games, social interaction sessions, and a shared lunch with the residents.

The programme was warmly received by both the management and residents of the centre. Overall, the visit successfully strengthened ties between the university and the community while promoting values of kindness, care, and mutual support. It also provided meaningful opportunities for participants to contribute positively to the well-being of vulnerable members of society.
