International Institute of Engineering – Henan Polytechnic Collaboration

Date: 2022 – 2027

Time: Every Semester

Location: He’Nan Polytechnic, Jinshui District, Zhengzhou, Henan, China

Introduction

This strategic collaboration between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and He’Nan Polytechnic (HPC) promotes academic cooperation and the internationalization of higher vocational education in China. It integrates UKM’s curriculum into HPC diploma programmes, capacity building, and cross-cultural learning.

Objectives

  • Promote international cooperation between China and Malaysia in higher education.
  • Introduce 30% of UKM’s curriculum content into HPC diploma programmes.
  • Build capacity and provide training for He’Nan Polytechnic.
  • Develop high-quality international technical talents for global needs.

Programme Summary

A Cooperation Agreement was signed on 26 January 2022 between UKM and HPC, establishing the Henan Polytechnic International Engineering Institute. This joint institute implements China’s education policy while introducing UKM’s academic resources. Three diploma programmes launched in September 2022:

  • Electronic Information Engineering Technology (FKAB-UKM)
  • Mechatronics Technology (FKAB-UKM)
  • Computer Application Technology (FTSM-UKM)

UKM lecturers travel to HPC every semester to deliver courses, ensuring quality standards. Outstanding students may continue undergraduate studies at UKM with 30% credit transfer. To date, 1,081 Chinese students have enrolled across the three diploma programmes.
