THREE MINUTE THESIS (3MT) COMPETITION 2026 UNIVERSITI KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA (UKM) LEVEL

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition 2026 at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) level was successfully held on 10 February 2026 at the Auditorium of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), bringing together outstanding Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidates to showcase their research in a compelling and concise format.The event was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs, UKM Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Gafor.
This prestigious competition was organised through a collaboration between the Centre for Academic Management (AKADEMIK UKM) and the Faculty of Medicine, UKM, under the Secretariat of Postgraduate Studies. A total of 53 PhD students participated in this year’s competition, competing in two main categories: Science, Engineering and Technology, and Social Sciences.The 3MT competition challenges participants to present their research in a clear, engaging and impactful manner within just three minutes, demonstrating both academic depth and effective communication skills.
The winners were announced across two categories. In the Science, Engineering and Technology category, first place was awarded to Nur Nabilah Zulkifly from the Faculty of Dentistry, followed by Adawiyah Md Ashar from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology in second place, and Nor Amalina Abdul Rahim from the Faculty of Pharmacy in third place. In the Social Sciences category, Sharifah Maimunah Syed Mud Puad from the Faculty of Education secured first place, while Nur Asyiqin Zohkarnain from the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Nor Athirah Mursyidah Nor Zailan from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities received second and third place, respectively.
The top two winners from each category will represent Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at the National Level Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Congratulations are extended to all participants, winners, judges and the organising committee for the successful organisation of this prestigious competition, which continues to promote research excellence and effective scientific communication among UKM postgraduate students.
