MetaSkool ToT @ SSTP Selangor — Empowering PPD Klang’s Educators
The Training of Trainers (ToT) session for MetaSkool in Selangor took place at SMJK (C) Chung Hwa, Klang, hosted by the Sektor Sumber dan Teknologi Pendidikan (SSTP) under JPN Selangor. With a focus on empowering educators from PPD Klang, the programme brought together a diverse group of teachers eager to explore immersive teaching methods through the metaverse. SMJK (C) Chung Hwa provided warm hospitality and a well-equipped venue, creating a smooth and welcoming environment that supported the day’s objectives.
Facilitators from the Faculty of Education at UKM led the session with a hands-on approach. Teachers were introduced to the Spatial.io-based MetaSkool platform, gaining access to the virtual headquarters and exploring the newly established SSTP JPN Selangor HQ. The onboarding process was structured to help participants become familiar with navigating virtual spaces while imagining how such environments could be integrated into real classroom settings.
The heart of the training lay in the world-building session. Each teacher collaborated with two student participants, sharing their ideas for immersive lesson-worlds based on their subject matter and classroom goals. The students then built these virtual environments under the teachers’ guidance, combining creative expression with technical skill. The collaboration reflected the potential of co-creation between educators and learners, especially when supported by intuitive digital platforms.
Participants also took part in guided explorations of existing immersive spaces within MetaSkool, including MetaSkool HQ, Dead Town: EcoCity Quest, and Parameswara. These examples showcased how metaverse environments can be thoughtfully designed around specific learning outcomes, offering new ways to engage students through digital storytelling, simulation, and exploration.
The MetaSkool ToT session at SSTP JPN Selangor marked a significant step forward for digital education in the Klang district. With trained educators now ready to lead in immersive instruction, and with strong support from both the school and state education office, the session set the tone for what future classrooms in Selangor could look like—collaborative, imaginative, and powered by technology.
