STEM – SMITIN

We excited to share one of our incredible day at Sekolah Menengah Integrasi Tahfiz Ilmuwan (SMITIN), Bandar Baru Bangi held on 2 October 2025, where innovation and creativity came to life! This exciting event was designed to introduce secondary school students to the fascinating world of 3D printing technology from the first idea on screen to the final printed model.

A total of 80 students participated enthusiastically, exploring four interactive booths filled with hands-on activities. Our team led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab, Dr. Wan Hafizi Wan Ishak and esteemed members, Mrs. Siti Aisyah Syazwani Mohd Zaidi, Mrs. You Jen Xian, Mr. Asswin Veerapatran and Dr. Wan Nazihah Liyana Wan Jusoh, focuses on 3D printing concept and plastic knowledges. The first three booths focused on the complete 3D printing process, starting with designing 3D models, moving on to slicing and preparing the designs for printing, and ending with watching their creations come to life through real 3D printers. The fourth booth gave students a deeper understanding of materials, where they learned how to categorize different types of plastics and understand their unique properties and uses.

Beyond just learning the steps, students gained valuable technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. They discovered how 3D printing can be used in various fields such as engineering, healthcare and product design, inspiring them to think creatively about future innovations. The program also encouraged teamwork, communication, and curiosity, helping students build confidence in exploring STEM-related fields.

By the end of the session, the students walked away with not only new knowledge but also a spark of inspiration, seeing how technology and imagination can come together to shape the future. It was truly a fun, educational, and eye-opening experience for everyone involved!
