Community Engagement – Wanderlab Explorer

We are delighted to share our recent participation in the Wanderlab Explorer (WLE) Programme: Waste Management Modules (Series 2: Inorganic Waste), organized by Sime Darby Property. The event took place on Saturday, 22 February 2025, at the Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre (ERKC).

Our team was honored to contribute to this important community engagement initiative. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shaiful Sajab delivered an insightful Sustainability Talk on “Plastic Pollution in Malaysia,” highlighting the pressing issues and potential solutions related to plastic waste in our country.

In addition to the talk, our students actively participated in various modules designed to educate and inspire. The “All About Plastic!” module, facilitated by Ms. Siti Aisyah Syazwani and Ms. You Jen Xian, provided an engaging and informative experience for the participants. The hands-on activities helped students understand the impact of plastic waste and the importance of proper waste management.

Another exciting module was “Station 3: Print Your Toys!” facilitated by Dr. Wan Nazihah Liyana and Mr. Muhammad Alif Fitri. This module allowed students to explore the creative and sustainable use of plastic waste by printing their own toys, fostering both innovation and environmental awareness.

We are grateful to Sime Darby Property for inviting us to be a part of this meaningful programme. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community, share our knowledge, and inspire the next generation to take action towards a more sustainable future.
