Mastery of the Arabic language is a fundamental pillar in the implementation of Islamic daʿwah, as it serves as the primary medium for the core sources of Islam such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical Islamic texts (turath). However, the level of Arabic proficiency among daʿwah practitioners in Malaysia remains a pertinent issue, particularly in relation to the effectiveness of daʿwah delivery to the public. This study employs a qualitative approach using an exploratory design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with four informants who are actively involved in daʿwah and possess educational backgrounds in Islamic studies, particularly in Arabic. The interview findings were further supported by a literature review to strengthen the understanding of the research issue. Data analysis was conducted thematically through coding and identifying major themes. The study found that proficiency in Arabic is crucial for the accuracy of daʿwah delivery. Nonetheless, daʿwah practitioners face challenges such as difficulty in understanding classical Arabic texts, a lack of advanced training, and limited language immersion environments. Moreover, the public’s high expectations of daʿwah practitioners contribute to additional pressure. The informants also emphasized the importance of etiquette, sincerity, and audience understanding as key values in effective daʿwah. The study recommends enhancing Arabic proficiency among daʿwah practitioners through continuous training, community support, and contextual approaches in daʿwah delivery. The integration of traditional methods with modern technology is also proposed to engage audiences from diverse backgrounds. Overall, Arabic language mastery not only functions as a tool for daʿwah but also reflects the credibility and scholarly authority of a daʿwah practitioner in conveying Islamic teachings authentically and effectively

Gender Stereotypes is a generalised view about attributes that are ought to be possessed by either men or women. It has been observed that some Nigerian Arabic writings are characterised by gender stereotypes, which have remained unstudied. The aim of this research, therefore, is to examine the forms of stereotypes available in the Nigerian Arabic plays and identify the likely effects this may have in modelling the behaviours of the readers. This study adopts the method of research. The statistical instruments used to analyse the data gathered include the Pearson moment correlation coefficient (PPMC) and the simple percentage. It is observed that the Male dominates the characterisation of the Arabic plays and authors are stereotypical in terms of gender as certain behaviours such simplicity and calmness are attributed majorly to female while attributes such as stubbornness and wickedness are attributed to the male. The study concludes that the major factor why the Arabic play writers attribute more positive behaviours to women than men is that their writings is influenced by the Nigerian culture. The study recommended that more positive attributes should be attributed to men to prevent readers from believing that men should be tough at all time.

A literary novel has been published by an Arab writer in Egypt known as Taufiq Al-Hakim. The novel is titled Usfur min Al-Syarq, which means “Burung Pipit dari Timur” or “Sparrow from the East”. It is a historical novel, but it also contains elements of romance, making it more appealing to readers. In addition, it is adorned with classical language styles, which encourage researchers to delve deeper into the reading of the novel. The objective of this study is to analyze the religious theme present in the novel. The methodology of the study employs qualitative research and is based on content analysis of the novel’s text. Spiritual Theory has been used as an analytical approach in the article. Based on the research findings, there are two religious subthemes present: strong faith in God and the avoidance of excessive attachment to worldly love. The first subtheme is approached using the first principle (Aqidah), while the second subtheme is approached using the second principle (Tazkiyah An-Nafs). Several text excerpts have also been cited to support these subthemes. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will contribute and assist other researchers in producing an analysis of literary novels. It is also hoped that other researchers will continue with more comprehensive analyses of this novel.

The construction of the identity of the Burmese people was heavily influenced by colonial discourses brought by the British. The Burmese people reconstructed their identity to achieve the same and equal position as the British through cross-cultural behavior, imitation of identity, until the emergence of identity confusion among the native people. This behavior actually gave rise to the anxiety felt by the colonialists regarding the power they occupied in Burma. This was because the British felt they did not fully control Burma, thus allowing resistance to emerge. Based on this, this research aims to reveal the identity construction of the Burmese people in the form of hybrid identity, mimicry and ambivalence. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method using Homi K. Bhabha’s postcolonial theory analysis. The results of this research show that the social conditions of Burmese society have an impact on the identity construction of Burmese people by crossing cultures in the form of education, language, political system and lifestyle. The forms of impersonation carried out include imitation of language, thoughts, violent behavior and lifestyle. This crossover and imitation of identity then gave rise to identity confusion experienced by the majority of Burmese people, especially felt by U Po Kyin and dr. Ambivalence when they want to become members of a European club, but still maintain their inferiority as natives.

The Disagreement Between the Basra and Kufa Syntacticians, and Its Effects on the Development of Grammatical Terminology: A Descriptive and Analytical Study
Muhammad Amaechi Bin-Ali
This article addresses the issue of disagreement between the grammarians of Basra and Kufa and its effects on the development of grammatical terminology: a descriptive and analytical study. The research aims to demonstrate that grammarians followed the scientific method in grammatical reasoning and addressing its issues. It also demonstrates that some Kufi terminology clarifies Basra terminology, while analyzing some of the criticisms directed at Kufi grammarians. The reader of this research will benefit from understanding the effects of grammatical disagreement on the development of grammatical terminology, particularly the role of Kufi terminology in clarifying Basra terminology. Among the research findings are that disagreements led to a proliferation of terminology, some clarifying others, the growth of grammar, the denial of any opposition against Basra grammarians, and creating confusion in the minds of learners. The principle of disagreement is a recognition of Kufi terminology, while also highlighting the reasons for its multiplicity.

Folk Proverbs: An Analytical Approach in the Light
of Sanford A. Schane’s Generative Phonology
Muhammad Amaechi Bin-Ali
This study examines phonological phenomena in Jordanian proverbs according to Sanford’s theory, with the aim of identifying distinctive phonological features of the Jordanian dialect and how they are reflected in the structure and meanings of words. The researchers focused on the proverbs compiled in the book Popular Proverbs Spoken in Jordan, analyzing them phonetically to clarify types of changes such as substitution, deletion, insertion, vowel alternation, assimilation, and imālah (vowel shift), in addition to other phenomena related to assimilation, syllabic structure, weakening and strengthening, and neutralization. The study showed that these phonological phenomena contribute to simplifying pronunciation and accelerating speech performance in line with the nature of the Jordanian dialect in daily communication, while preserving meanings in a clear and comprehensible manner. It also highlighted similarities and differences between Jordanian proverbs and Standard Arabic, reflecting both the close relationship between colloquial and standard varieties and the independent phonological characteristics of the dialect. In conducting the research, the authors relied on the inductive method to collect and study the proverbs, the analytical method to examine the phonological phenomena within them, and the comparative method to highlight differences between colloquial and Standard Arabic. The study concluded that final consonant silence (sukūn) is among the most prominent phonological features of the Jordanian dialect, and that substitution is one of the most common processes. It was also found that a single proverb may involve more than one phonological change, reflecting the dynamics and diversity of the dialect. This study underscores the importance of proverbs as a rich source for dialectological research, as they mirror the cultural identity of society and reveal the mechanisms of phonological development in language.

Insights into Maʿānī al-Qurʾān li al-Farrāʾ
Siddig Mohamed Ibrahim
Al-Farra’s “The Meanings of the Qur’an” is a sincere attempt by its author to elucidate some of the meanings of the Holy Qur’an, as well as some linguistic, grammatical, morphological, rhetorical, and semantic explanations aimed at achieving the same goal. Therefore, it is considered one of the most important sources of grammatical and linguistic studies. Its importance lies in its discussions, which are closely linked to the Holy Qur’an, becoming a source from which every incoming scholar draws. Therefore, this analytical study will shed light on Al-Farra’s position on Qur’anic readings and his approach to dealing with them, whether accepting or rejecting them, preferring or comparing them. It will then examine some phonetic, morphological, grammatical, rhetorical, and semantic issues. Al-Farra’s extensive investigation of these sciences will therefore shed light on these sciences with some analysis, demonstrating Al-Farra’s unique approach, while differing from some of his contemporaries.
