The Mitochondria Function Analysis Workshop 2.0, themed “Unlocking Disease Secrets: Dive into the Cellular Universe with Agilent’s Real-time Mitochondrial Analyzer”, was successfully organized by the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), on 19–20 May 2026. Conducted in a hybrid format, the workshop brought together researchers, postgraduate students, and academicians interested in cellular metabolism and mitochondrial research.

The two-day workshop provided participants with comprehensive theoretical and practical exposure to mitochondrial function analysis using Agilent Seahorse technology. Day One featured a series of lectures by experts from Genomax Technologies Sdn. Bhd. and UKM, covering mitochondrial research applications, the Seahorse Mito Stress Assay, and user experience sharing sessions. Participants were also introduced to the XF HS Mini Analyzer hardware and assay workflow, followed by a tour of the Cell Culture Laboratory at the Department of Biochemistry.

On Day Two, participants engaged in a hands-on laboratory session involving the XF Cell Mito Stress Assay Kit, including sample preparation, assay execution, and data collection. The workshop concluded with an in-depth session on data analysis using Seahorse Analytics software, enabling participants to interpret and present experimental findings effectively.

Overall, the workshop successfully enhanced participants’ knowledge and technical skills in mitochondrial function analysis, strengthened research capabilities, and promoted collaboration among researchers in the fields of ageing, metabolism, immunology, and disease-related cellular studies.
