The KUDAH programme encourages the public to enjoy leisure activities while collecting waste, aiming to raise awareness and foster community responsibility for environmental preservation and conservation.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), YBhg. Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang, led the KUDAH programme at Sungai Langat Trail near UKM. Organised by Friends of Rivers Malaysia (FoRM) with UKM’s Smart and Sustainable Township Research Center (SUTRA), the event gathered 90 participants from FoRM, UKM, LUAS, JAS, and Etika.
Participants cleaned the trail area and planted 100 saplings along 1 km of the river trail as part of the 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign. The initiative, started by YBhg. Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini, restored a neglected river reserve previously used as an illegal dumping site. The event concluded with a National Month celebration and a fruit feast of durian and rambutan.
This initiative strengthened volunteerism and supported Malaysia’s low-carbon target. It successfully restored the Sungai Langat river reserve area, improved ecosystem biodiversity, and encouraged healthier lifestyles while raising public environmental awareness.
The KUDAH programme demonstrates strong commitment towards preserving river ecosystems and promoting sustainability. With multi-agency collaboration, it contributes significantly to conservation, awareness, and the 100 Million Trees Campaign.
