1. Master’s Degree by Research Mode

• Complete prerequisite courses (if applicable);

• Present a research proposal during the first or second semester;

• Prepare a thesis not exceeding 60,000 words in the chosen field of research;

• Publish ONE (1) article in any of the following categories:

  • Journals indexed by ERA, Scopus, or Web of Science (WoS);

  • Journals published by UKM or its Faculties/Institutes, or listed in MyJurnal (Malaysian Journal Management System) by MyCite;

  • A book chapter published by a publisher listed under WoS, UKM Press, or MAPIM.

2. Master’s Degree by Mixed Mode (Coursework and Research)

• Register for and complete 12 courses (compulsory and elective);

• Present a research proposal during the first or second semester;

• Prepare a thesis not exceeding 50,000 words in the chosen field of research;

• Publish ONE (1) refereed journal article, indexed in Scopus, ERA, WoS, or well-regarded within the relevant field.

3. Master’s Degree by Coursework Mode

• Register for and complete:

  • 12 credit hours of compulsory courses,

  • 21 credit hours of elective courses, and

  • 12 credit hours for project papers;

• Complete prerequisite courses (if applicable);

• Complete Research Project 1: Production and presentation of a Project Paper;

• Complete Research Project 2: Production and presentation of a Project Paper, along with ONE (1) written article in the form of a book chapter, conference proceeding, or journal article.
