Strengthening TVET Scholarly Writing through Strategic Collaboration between Pusat IDEA UKM and Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST)

Pusat IDEA UKM, in collaboration with the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST), organised a Journal and Book Chapter Writing Course on 13 October 2025, conducted online, followed by face-to-face sessions from 15 to 16 October 2025 at Royal Park Hotel @ UNITEN Bangi.

The course aimed to strengthen participants’ competencies in academic writing and high-impact scholarly publication, particularly within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem. This initiative reflects a continuous effort to enhance research capacity and publication quality among officers and professionals in the field.

The programme was organised under the framework of a long-standing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIAST and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), reinforcing strategic collaboration in advancing research culture and expanding academic and professional networks. The course was facilitated by experienced academicians from the UKM University Research Group (KPU) TVET Dynamics, who possess extensive expertise in academic writing, research, and scholarly publishing.

Participants comprised officers and professionals from CIAST, the Department of Skills Development (JPK), ADTEC under the Department of Manpower, Polytechnics, and MARA Higher Skills Colleges (KKTM). All participants had prior involvement in programmes such as the TVET Fellowship, New Emerging Technology (NET) initiatives, and Industrial Attachment Training (LSI).

It is anticipated that the knowledge and skills gained from this course will be effectively applied to enhance the quality of academic writing and research publications, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge and best practices in the TVET sector in Malaysia.
