INTERNATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS ISLAMIC STUDIES CONVENTION EXHIBITION 2025

The Research and Innovation Exhibition, held in conjunction with the International Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) Islamic Studies Convention 2025, took place on 13 November 2025 at the Foyer DECTAR, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The exhibition was jointly organised by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM and Pusat IDEA UKM, with collaboration from various strategic agencies, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing research and innovation grounded in Islamic values.

Aligned with the theme “University, Islam and Technology: Shaping a Holistic Civilisation”, the exhibition showcased an integration of traditional knowledge, modern innovation, and digital technology aimed at fostering balanced and ethical societal development. A total of 15 research and innovation products developed by UKM were exhibited, encompassing digital applications, educational modules, new research methodologies, and value-based solution-driven initiatives.

The convention attracted nearly 4,000 visitors, while the exhibition recorded a consistently high flow of visitors throughout the day, including students, industry representatives, and government agencies. The exhibition was further honoured by visits from YB Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education, and Sahibus Samahah Ustaz Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil, Mufti of the Federal Territories, who toured the exhibition booths and engaged directly with the researchers. During the visit, several UKM researchers presented their research publications to the Minister and the Mufti as a gesture of knowledge sharing and academic contribution.

The exhibition successfully generated early interest in research activities and product development, while enhancing public understanding of the role of Islamic-based innovation in national development. The participation of strategic exhibition partners, including the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and ZUS Coffee, further strengthened the exhibition as an interdisciplinary platform connecting academia, industry, and the student community.

Overall, the exhibition was well executed and successfully achieved its objectives. The strong visitor turnout and the presence of national leadership demonstrated that the exhibition served as an effective platform in highlighting UKM’s strengths in innovation, research, and the integration of Islam and technology. This initiative also significantly enhanced UKM’s profile and visibility as a leading institution in value-based and technology-driven innovation at the national level.
