The University Research Group (KPU) System Development Workshop was held on 12 February 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Pulse Grande Hotel, Putrajaya. The workshop was organised to discuss matters related to governance, system development, system coordination and data analytics concerning researcher information at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
The workshop was led by Dr. Mohd Hadri Hafiz Mokhtar, the Project Leader for the KPU System Development initiative, who guided the discussions on the development of the KPU application as a platform for managing research group information and monitoring research performance within the university. Also present at the workshop was Prof. Dr. Norbahiah Misran, Lead of the Digital and Advanced Technology Research Cluster at UKM, together with officers from Pusat IDEA UKM and representatives from the UKM Digital Centre. Project members comprising researchers from various faculties across the university also attended the workshop to contribute their expertise and perspectives.
The workshop brought together project leaders, co-researchers and technical representatives to ensure that system requirements, data structures and KPU evaluation instruments could be aligned systematically and comprehensively in the development of the KPU application. The involvement of multiple stakeholders was essential to ensure that the system would effectively support integrated and efficient research data management within the university.
Throughout the workshop, discussions focused on the integration of KPU data, research data analytics and the development of algorithms aimed at strengthening the university’s research data ecosystem. This approach seeks to ensure that the system being developed is structured, accurate and user-friendly, thereby facilitating more efficient management of research information.
In addition, the workshop served as an important platform to coordinate the integration of research data from various institutional sources, ensuring that the system aligns with the university’s requirements for reporting, performance monitoring and research data governance. These efforts are expected to enhance the efficiency of research data management and further strengthen the development of a dynamic and impactful research ecosystem at UKM.
