CHEMICAL BIOLOGY

Aim: To unravel the molecular mechanisms governing life by integrating chemical, genetic, and enzymatic approaches—focusing on glycobiology, halogenase expression, and natural product chemistry—to drive the discovery and development of novel bioactive compounds and transformative biomedical solutions.

Synopsis:

Our Chemical Biology research group explores the intricate chemistry of life, with a special focus on glycobiology—deciphering genes, chemical modifications, and their biological roles. We delve into halogenase gene expression and enzymatic chemistry, unlocking new biocatalytic potential. Our work in natural products chemistry fuels the discovery of bioactive compounds, while our synthetic chemistry efforts drive innovations in porphyrins and next-generation antimalarial agents. By bridging genetics, chemistry, and synthesis, we aim to unveil molecular mechanisms and develop transformative biomedical applications.
