INTRODUCTION

The Pathology Department is one of the departments in the UKM Medical Center that has achieved excellence in education, research and services.

The department has contributed a lot to the teaching system for the study of Medical Undergraduates and also Dental Undergraduates. In Postgraduate studies, the department is involved in the Master of Pathology, Master of Medical Sciences (Pathology) and Doctor of Philosophy (Pathology) Courses. Apart from that, studies as a Medical Laboratory Technologist are also offered in the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DTMP) Course.

Expertise in the Department of Pathology covers various disciplines in the field of pathology: Anatomical Pathology, Hematology, Chemical Pathology, Forensic Pathology, Perinatal Pathology, Molecular Diagnostics and also Blood Bank Services.

Contributions other than teaching and clinical expertise in the field of pathology, the department is also proactive in research for each discipline and has obtained a high number of research grants. Grants obtained by academic staff also accommodate many Master of Medical Science and Doctor of Philosophy candidates in this department.

The combination of highly motivated, innovative, creative and ethical academic staff and support staff is able to meet the needs of a successful Research University.

Enhance the understanding of Pathology and Medical Laboratory through innovative and collaborative research and education in order to improve the health status of the global community. The Department of Pathology is also committed to excellence in research, services and training in the field of pathology with a highly motivated, innovative, competitive and dedicated workforce, working in a liberal, tolerant, caring and full of moral and ethical values.

VISION

To be a leader in pathology research and education at the national and international levels as well as as a center of excellence in pathological diagnostic services.

OBJECTIVES

To promote continuing education for all staff - To have adequate physical facilities for all staff and each laboratory - To increase productivity in research and encourage research that benefits the Nation - To provide quality training - To provide quality service - To promote activities that improve mental and physical health.
