Introduction of EKSA
In line with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s adoption of the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) since 2023 to supersede the traditional 5S Practice, the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP) officially commences its EKSA journey this year. This initiative aims to establish a structured, safe, and productive working and learning environment.
UKM’s EKSA Policy
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as a national university, is committed to prioritizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in fostering a high-performance work culture as a practice to achieve the well-being of its members through the continuous implementation of EKSA.
EKSA Implementation
- The 3B Principle: Discard (dispose of damaged furniture and unusable materials), Clean, and Organize.
- Standardized Labeling: All equipment, furniture, light and air-conditioning switches, filing rooms, store rooms, and pantry/dining zones must be uniformly labeled using standardized stickers.
- Usage & Etiquette Notices: Clear operational guidelines and code-of-conduct notices must be displayed in designated shared facilities (e.g., photocopier stations, shredder areas, prayer rooms, meeting rooms, and restrooms).
- Switch & Lighting Layout Plans: Color-coded floor plan indicators must be affixed adjacent to light and fan switches to guide targeted use and prevent energy wastage.
- “Before & After” Documentation: Photographing areas before and after clean-up (gotong-royong) sessions must be systematically carried out for audit and compliance reporting.
- Recycling Corners: Designated recycling bins and stations must be set up at strategic, easily accessible locations across the faculty.
